Chapter 1061

After Thea arrived, the three began discussing their plan.

Soon, they were able to iron out the details and start forming a cohesive plan.

After spending an entire afternoon discussing it, the plan was tentatively finalized.

Now, they had to wait for Blake’s investigation results and ascertain Mr. Gabriel’s whereabouts.

Then, after they collected all the information they needed, it would finally be time to put things intonovelbin

action.

“That’s it for now.”

Maxine sighed in relief and said, “Our operation can only succeed. There isn’t any room for failure. The

consequences of failure will be extremely lethal.”

James furrowed his brows worriedly as he said, “I still don’t even know what Mr. Gabriel looks like, let

alone his whereabouts.”

They had everything planned out except for one pretty sizeable bump in the road—who exactly was Mr.

Gabriel?

Maxine closed her eyes to think before she spoke again, “I’ve never seen him before either. I think the

King might have an idea. You should go and talk to him.”

“Got it. I’ll leave now then.” James stood up.

“Wait.”

Maxine suddenly remembered something and suddenly grabbed James’ arm to stop him.

James stopped in his tracks and turned towards her.

Maxine said, “I don’t think you should rush it. For now, we should do something that will attract their

attention. It’d be more suspicious if we continued to lay low without making any moves. Now that you’re

the commander of the Red Flame Army, your inaction will definitely put the enemy on guard. Mr.

Gabriel will surely be suspicious of you.”

James tilted his head. “Then what do you suggest I do?”

Maxine smiled and said, “Naturally, you should hold a grand succession ceremony and announce to

the entire country that you’ve been appointed as the new commander of the Red Flame Army. Mr.

Gabriel will let his guard down thinking that you’re a power-hungry fool. He might even attend your

succession ceremony which will give us a chance to identify him.”

James thought about it and agreed with her suggestion.

It would take a few days or even longer for them to determine the location of the research facilities.

Meanwhile, the news of his appointment as the new Emperor had already begun making its way

around powerful circles internally.

If he continued to keep it a low profile, it would surely arouse people’s suspicions, and they would

definitely assume that something is afoot.

“Alright. I’ll go sort out plans for the ceremony now.” James walked away briskly.

After James left, Maxine leaned back on the sofa and looked at Thea. She asked with a disarming

smile. “Thea, how’s your relationship with James right now?”

“Great.”

Thea looked at Maxine and said firmly, “We’ll remarry after this whole thing blows over.”

“Is it really great, though? I’m afraid still waters run deep. Don’t you know that Tiara has returned to

Cansington?” Maxine continued to smile while eyeing Thea as if she were assessing a threat.

“I’m aware. So what of it?” Thea replied indifferently.

“All she has is her good looks and speaking of that, she looks like she’d shatter at the slightest touch.

How is she any form of viable competition for me? I control the God-King Palace and can help James

in battle. Even a blind person would know who’s the better choice.”

Thea spoke confidently.

Maxine shook her head and said, “Not necessarily. What if… Tiara’s pregnant?”

“...”

Thea’s eyes widened so much they threatened to pop out of her skull as she stared directly at Maxine.

She narrowed her eyes and spoke carefully, “What did you just say? How is it possible for her to be

pregnant?”

Maxine chuckled languidly and spread her body out on the couch. “I’m just saying, what if. I mean, she

did have sex with James before, so it’s possible. I just mentioned it casually, don’t take it to heart. I’m

tired, so I’ll be taking a shower.”

She got up and left.

Although it was not intentional, Thea was clearly shaken by her words.

Maxine’s words clawed away at Thea’s confidence.

“Could she really be pregnant? What are the chances…” Thea murmured agitatedly.

If that were the case, then it would drive a wedge in the relationship Thea had poured so much effort

into repairing. Thea knew the kind of person James was. He was the type that took his responsibilities

and obligations extremely seriously.

If Tiara really was pregnant, it would jeopardize Thea’s position.

It was entirely possible that James would abandon her to take responsibility for Tiara.

“I can’t let that happen.” Thea clenched her teeth and bit the tip of her thumb in aggravation. James

was hers, and no one was allowed to snatch him away.

As this happened, Maxine walked into the bathroom with a breezy stride. On her face was a tiny smile.

As if she were pleased that everyone seemed to be dancing to her tune.
