Chapter 219

Chapter 219

How far could $800 get you? In a place like Devonport, $800 a month was hardly enough to live on!

“Ms. Nichole, please don’t be too quick to say no. I’ll give you a day to think it over, and you can getback to me tomorrow.” The interviewer smiled before handing the resume back to Nichole.

Nichole left the company, stomping her foot in frustration. It was just a newly listed company, not evenhalf as prestigious as Burke International! And yet, they set the bar so high?

Nichole was determined to prove them wrong and quickly reached out to other companies. However, under Sophie’s directive, every company, without exception, rejected Nichole’s job applications.novelbin

Even when Nichole lowered her expectations, the best offer she received was a salary of $600.

Nichole sat dejectedly on the curb. She couldn’t believe that not a single company was willing to hireher despite being a graduate student from Eastwood College.

Just then, Nichole’s phone rang. She thought it was a callback from HR but was surprised to find it wasa notification from her faculty head.

“Nichole, you left Palm’s Jewels?”

Nichole bit her lip and replied, “I didn’t feel Palm’s Jewels was the right fit for me, so I resignedvoluntarily.”

“But I heard Palm’s Jewels fired you?”

“Sir, I resigned on my own. If you don’t believe me…”

“That’s not important. What is important is that you need to find a new internship position immediately. You have less than a month, and by this time next month, I need to receive your internship assessmentwith the company’s seal of approval!”

After saying that, the director hung up.

Nichole’s situation was dire, but she had no time to dwell on it. She had to find a job immediately.

Finally, with hesitation, Nichole dialed Crescent Corp, a subsidiary of S Corporation.

The call connected quickly, and hearing the voice of the interviewer, Nichole felt a wave of humiliation. She said, “Hello, I’m Nichole. I’d like to intern at your company starting today!”

“Then come on over. I’ll have someone prepare a workstation for you.”

The interviewer’s tone wasn’t the most welcoming, but it was already much better than the previouscompanies.

Nichole grabbed her bag. So what the salary was low and the treatment was poor? Once shegraduated, she could still land a good job.

Nichole didn’t know that Devonport was no longer a place for her to thrive.

Meanwhile, Sophie received a call from the branch office. “Okay, I got it.”

Sophie hung up, sitting in the executive chair of S Corporation’s CEO’s office. From the window, shecould clearly see Nichole looking defeated and shabby.

In the end, Nichole chose to be work in S Corporation. However, life at S Corporation wasn’t as easy asher had imagined.

Tricia said, “We’ve looked into Nichole’s resume. Her academic performance has always been stable, and she should have othold the financial sector once she leaves.”

Sophie knew, of course. In her previous life, after Nichole went abroad for further studies and cameback, she helped James make a lot of money. James saw her in a new light and took her under hiswing for special training.
