Chapter 217

Chapter 217novelbin

Mr. Donny stumbled over his words on the phone as he recounted the day’s events, then stuttered, “Mr.Burke, I truly had no idea Mrs. Burke would be interning at our company. I had no choice but to let Ms.Nichole go, Mr. Burke…”

“Letting her go is for the best. She never had the competence to join Palm’s Jewels anyway.”

James had no interest in discussing Nichole.

Mr. Donny was taken aback. Wasn’t Nichole James‘ lover? James seemed ruthlessly indifferent, notbothering to inquire about her at all. “Of course, Mr. Burke, rest assured, I will take good care of yourwife! I absolutely won’t let her face any hardships at the company!”

James, growing impatient, didn’t respond to Mr. Donny and hung up the phone.

Colt remarked, “Mr. Burke, if Ms. Nichole can’t find another internship position immediately, herthesis…”

“If she lacks the ability to handle it, then she was a waste of all the years I’ve invested in herdevelopment.” James coldly stated, “Don’t mention Nichole to me again. She and I are done.”

“Yes, Mr. Burke.”

That afternoon, Sophie received a call from Tricia. As Sophie poured herself some tea, she asked,“What’s up?”

“This afternoon, several companies within S Corporation received resumes from the same person.”

“Who?”

“Nichole.”

Sophie couldn’t help but laugh.

Nichole had just been let go and was already looking for the next opportunity. She probably feared thatthis internship fallout would jeopardize the hard–earned graduate position she got through James.

“What position does she want?” Sophie inquired.

“The position of Assistant General Manager.”

Tricia found Nichole quite amusing, too. She was simply an intern who hadn’t even graduated yet anddared to aim for the position of Assistant General Manager directly.

“Which companies did she apply to?”

“Mostly smaller ones. Some under Russell Enterprises, others under S Corporation, and a few arebusinesses owned by Mr. Adler and Ms. Jenna.”

Sophie understood the situation.

No matter what, Russell Enterprises‘ subsidiaries in the industry could easily number in the hundreds.

Even if they were small companies, and not explicitly under Russell Enterprises, they were indeedacquired by Russell Enterprises and were all well–known, established companies.

Nichole probably didn’t know this; otherwise, she would have avoided working for Russell Enterprisesat all costs.

Sophie had established and developed S Corporation’s most recent companies, offering betterconditions. Without James chole seeking a higher salary to make a living was a decent choice.

a rather clever calculation.

As for Adler and Jenna, both were industry leaders, with companies no less numerous than those ofthe Russell family.

Moreover, Nichole might have calculated that as a graduate student, she could land a decent position

Nichole probably thought that among all the companies in Devonport, there would be one notconnected to Sophie. However, she didn’t realize that Devonport, being only so large, had hundreds ofbusinesses crammed together. Those that stood out were few, often collaborating or under the samecorporate umbrella.

This time, Nichole had really put herself in the line of fire.

“Send me Nichole’s resume later.”

“Ms. Sophie, are you considering taking Nichole on board?
