Chapter 441

“Do you think she’ll accept me? Will she call me brother?”

Ian raised an eyebrow at him. “That depends on how you behave. She’s my wife, and she listens tome.”

It was clear as day what he meant. Getting Clara to acknowledge him meant getting past Ian first.

Edwin wasn’t thrilled internally, but he put on an eager face. Leaning close, he whispered in Ian’sear, “Alright, name your price. I’ll meet it, my dear brother-in-law!”

He bit down hard on the words “brother-in-law,” with a smug smile playing on his lips.

Just then, Edwin’s phone began to ring. Elle’s urgent voice came through, “Ggrandma’s fever’sspiked again. She keeps calling for Clara. Can you bring her over?”novelbin

Ever since Clara had disappeared, Marian had fallen ill. The fever wouldn’t break. She was in asemi-conscious state, but the one clear thing was she remembered Clara was her granddaughter.

The doctors called it a psychological fixation, and she needed to resolve her inner turmoil to fullyrecover. But to do that, Clara needed to be there.

However, Clara still couldn’t accept her new identity. Her health was fragile, and she was pregnant.

Considering all this, Edwin looked at Ian with a troubled expression. “What do we do? If grandmakeeps this up, she might not last much longer.”

Ian glanced towards the hospital room and hesitated before saying, “You go back first. I’ll talk toCasey about it.”

Edwin clapped Ian on the shoulder with a thud and silently left. He pushed open the hospital roomdoor to see the doctors trying to cool Marian down with ice packs.

Marian was delirious. Her cheeks were burning hot. Her heart rate and blood pressure wereunstable.

Edwin approached Marian, taking her hand gently. “Grandma, Clara’s been rescued, but she’s beenthrough a shock, and the baby’s at risk. She needs to rest. Can you hold on a little longer?”

Marian nodded faintly in her daze, murmuring, “Clara, my sweet girl, she’s suffered.” As she thoughtof the ordeal Clara had endured, all because of Heidi, a child they had doted on since birth, herheart ached immensely.

Suddenly, the doctor announced, “Patient’s heart has stopped. We need to resuscitate immediately.”

When she watched the doctors perform life-saving procedures on Marian, Elle’s tears fell.“Grandma!”

She tried to rush forward but was pulled into Anders’ embrace. His hand gently stroked her head ashe whispered, “It’ll be alright. She’ll wake up.”

No sooner had he finished his reassurance than the doctor said, “Family members, please sign thecritical condition notice.”

When she heared this, Elle’s legs gave out, and she collapsed into Anders’ arms.

“Elle, Elle.” Anders quickly picked her up and laid her on a nearby bed.

At that moment, the door swung open, and Ian appeared with Clara. Elle immediately got off thebed, ran to Clara, grasping her hands and crying, “Clara, grandma’s fading fast. She’s been callingyour name.”

Clara felt her eyes fill with tears. She stepped to the bedside, took Marian’s hand, and said softly,“Grandma, it’s me, Clara.”
