Chapter 412

As the car sped towards Elle and Clara, Elle, without a second thought, lunged at Clara, pushingher out of harm’s way.

With a sickening thud, Elle was sent flying several meters by the impact, crashing to the ground witha heavy fall.

Her first instinct was to protect her child. As she hit the pavement, she instinctively wrapped herarms around her belly. Her arm took the brunt of the blow. A searing pain shot through her, bone-deep.

It was then that Anders’ frantic voice pierced the chaos, “Elle!” He dashed to Elle’s side, about to lifther, when Elle, through gritted teeth and pain, gasped, “Orin’s in that car. Save him first!”

Anders looked up just in time to see the vehicle speeding off towards the main gate. He leapt to hisfeet, charging towards the car in a desperate attempt to catch it.

Gripping the steering wheel, he engaged in a fierce struggle with the masked man at the wheel. Toshake Anders off, the assailant swerved wildly, but Anders, regardless of the blows he took, clung tothe wheel with an iron grip.

As the two men fought, Clara’s summoned bodyguards managed to bring the car to a halt. Theassailant was subdued, and little Orin was rescued.

Cradling a trembling Orin, Anders panted, trying to soothe him, “Don’t be afraid. Daddy’s here.”

Orin, choking back sobs, looked towards Elle. At that moment, his crying intensified. “Mama’sbleeding so much, Daddy. Please go check on her,” he wailed.

Anders, with Orin in his arms, quickly made his way to Elle.

Paramedics had arrived, and Elle was on a stretcher. She was still protecting her belly. Her facecreased with pain. She implored, “Doctor, save my baby first. I can handle my injuries.”

The doctor reassured her, “Don’t worry. We’ll do everything we can to save the baby.”

Handing Orin to Clara, Anders gripped Elle’s hand. His eyes welled up as he saw her sweating fromthe agony. “Elle, how are you holding up?”

Elle winced, “I’ll be okay, Anders. Save the child first. It’s just a broken arm for me. No life-threatening danger. But the baby must be safe.”novelbin

Anders felt a lump in his throat.

This child was the result of two grueling rounds of IVF that Elle had endured. She had suffered somuch, yet she had never uttered a word of complaint.

In Elle’s eyes, he knew, he was just the father of her children. Their communication was solely forthe kids’ sake. This disconnection left Anders feeling helpless.

He held Elle’s hand tightly as they entered the operating room. As they reached the door, Ellesuddenly said, “Anders, wait outside.”

“I want to be with you.”

“I don’t need you to. Look after Orin. He must be shocked. Comfort him.”

“Clara’s got him. You’re hurt, and I can’t just leave you. Elle, I’m begging you. Let me do somethingfor you and our child, okay?”

His voice was broke, and his eyes reddened with emotion. Even the doctor was moved. “Miss, yourhusband really cares for you. Let him come in. You’re pregnant, and we can’t use anesthetics on

your arm. Setting the bone will hurt a lot.”

Hearing this, Elle no longer protested.

Inside the emergency room, doctors first checked on the baby. Miraculously, due to Elle’s protectiveinstincts at the moment of impact, the baby was unharmed. Elle’s forearm had suffered a severeblow and friction, resulting in a fracture in one arm and heavy bruising on the other.

The doctor watched Elle with concern. “You’re still in a critical period. Anesthetics could harm thefetus. Without it, treating the wounds will be extremely painful. Can you endure it?”

Without hesitation, Elle nodded firmly. “I can bear it.”
