Chapter 407

Ian felt his blood boiling in his veins. The two of them hadn’t had sex for a while, so the primal urgesthat coursed through their bodies were beyond anyone’s control.

After a passionate lovemaking, Ian, somewhat sated, planted tender kisses on Clara. A post-sexhaze still glowed in his eyes. “Mrs. Hayes, did you enjoy that?” he whispered, with a playful twinklein his gaze.

Clara, cheeks flushed with a rosy hue, glared at him. “Ian, you’re shameless. I begged you to stop. Why didn’t you?”

Ian chuckled softly in her ear, “Darling, that wasn’t beggin. That was pure seduction. I couldn’t stopeven if I wanted to. Besides, didn’t you also...”

His words were cut short by Clara’s hand swiftly covering his mouth. “If you spout nonsense again,I’ll leave you to fend for yourself!”

Ian kissed her hand gently. “Alright, I’ll be quiet. From now on, I’ll listen to my wife. If you say faster,we’ll go faster. If you say stop, we’ll stop. Is that not enough?”

“Zip it!” Clara pushed him away, hastily straightening her clothes. Just as she swung her legs off thebed to stand up, there was a knock on the hospital room door.

Casey stood at the threshold, holding a food carrier. He took in their disheveled appearance and theflush on their faces, instantly understanding what had transpired.

As Clara retreated to the bathroom, still blushing, Casey’s expression turned to one of mild warningas he fixed his gaze on Ian. “I know young folks have their needs, but Clara’s still in a delicate state. You need to be mindful of that. It wasn’t easy for her to conceive.”

Ian responded with a grin, “I get it.”

“Good. Now go wash up and let’s eat. I’ve made your favorite barbecue ribs and a few side dishes.”

“Thanks. You’re the best.”

Casey watched him leave, shaking his head with an affectionate smile. He was pleased to see thecouple so in love, but he also knew the impulsiveness of youth could lead to regret if they weren’tcareful.

He set the food carrier on the table and absentmindedly turned on the TV. The newscast was mid-report: “Hayes Corporation’s CEO, Ian, has been severely injured in a fire and may becomecomatose. His father, Teo, overcome with grief, has lost interest in managing the company. Now, theHayes Corporation is in disarray, like a ship without a captain.”

“The ports are under someone else’s control. Bank loans have come to a halt, and major projectsare facing serious issues. In just a few days, Hayes Corporation’s stock has plummeted, resulting inbillions in losses.

“Greta, the Hayes family’s daughter, has rushed back from abroad in an attempt to turn the tide, butseems to be out of her depth. Will this business turmoil dethrone the Hayes Corporation from itsdominant market position? Time will tell.”

Casey frowned at the news. “Even if we’re fishing for a big catch, aren’t we baiting with too much?Billions are on the line.”

Ian shook his head with a smirk. “It’s not enough. The big fish has an even bigger appetite. If wedon’t let it taste the bait, how will it bite? I’ll even transfer a few big projects. Then it’ll be time toclose the net.”

Casey sighed resignedly, “Who is this person who’s been plotting for over twenty years just to takedown the Hayes family? What kind of deep-seated grudge must they hold to go to such lengths?”

“Soon, we’ll find out. I’ve had our people track all financial transactions; we should have resultsshortly.”

A few days later, Dawson arrived with a report, “The four major families have swallowed ourprojects and snapped up our group’s stocks. They’re triumphant now, celebrating tonight at the RedMaple Diner, plotting to completely take over Hayes Corporation.”novelbin

Ian replied calmly, “The four families are known for their discord. If they’ve united, there must be amiddleman. Who is it?”

Dawson met his gaze. His voice was grave. “It’s Paolo.”
