Chapter 400

Brodie’s yell echoed through the halls, “Doctor, save her, please!”

The doctor, hearing the urgency, rushed over and wheeled Katherine into the operating room.

Sierra, sitting on the cold floor, let out a sinister laugh, “You bitch! To think you’ve lived these extratwo decades as a gift from me.”

Teo was frozen in shock at the sight of Katherine’s injury.

It was as though his heart had stopped beating in that moment.

The gut-wrenching pain brought tears to his eyes, which he couldn’t hold back from streaming downhis face.

He had never felt fear like this before, not even when Ian had been hurt. Back then, he could keephis composure.

But now, his defenses were shattered.

It was as though he was losing the most important person in his life.

Why did he feel this way?

What was his relationship with Katherine in the past?

As he teetered on the edge of collapse, Sierra’s laughter pierced his ears.

The hatred in his eyes flared, and he lunged at her. His hands closed around her throat.

Through gritted teeth he hissed, “You venomous witch, I’ll send you to meet your maker right now!”

His veins bulged on the back of his hand as he tightened his grip, causing Sierra’s eyes to roll backas she pounded on his chest.

Teo, devoid of any sympathy, only increased the pressure.

Just as Sierra was about to suffocate, Clara burst in.

She grabbed Teo’s arm, pleading earnestly, “Teo, Sierra will face justice for her crimes. Please, don’t throw away your life over a criminal. Katherine’s fate is uncertain, and she wouldn’t want thisfor you.”

Her words brought Teo back to his senses.

He glared at Sierra, seething, “I’ll make sure they take good care of you in prison!”

After saying that, he stood up and dialed a number.

Soon, two officers arrived and cuffed Sierra, dragging her away like a dead dog.

Watching her retreating figure, Teo rubbed his temples. His voice was hoarse and barelyrecognizable. “I truly pity Ian and his sister for having her as a mother.”

Clara spoke softly, trying to console him, “We don’t get to choose our parents, but we can chooseour path. I’m sure Ian and his sister won’t be affected by her.”

Teo, feeling a pang of empathy, looked at her.

She had suffered since childhood because of Victoria, and now, despite being found by theCampbell family, she was stuck with a scumbag like Paolo.

What would she do if she ever learned the truth?

Teo patted her shoulder. “Let’s go check on your Katherine.”

They approached the operating room where Brodie stood motionless. His gaze was fixed on thedoor as if any blink might make him miss vital news.

Clara reached out and whispered, “Brodie.”

When he heared her voice, Brodie’s tightly wound emotions finally crumbled.

The man who usually kept his feelings hidden now turned to Clara, with tears streaming down hisface.

His voice was a rasp. “Clara, is my mom going to leave me?”

Clara shook her head immediately. “No, she won’t. You and Katherine have weathered so manystorms together, haven’t you? This is just another one. Believe me.”

“Really? You’re not lying to me?”

“Your little buddy here has never lied to you, have I? Don’t you remember?”

Clara reached up, stood on her tiptoes, and gently patted his head a few times, just like when theywere children.

This gesture offered Brodie a moment of solace.

Besides his mother, he had Clara.

She would stay by his side, waiting for his mother to wake up.novelbin
