Chapter 317

As Eddie wrestled with his doubts, Marian's voice broke through the silence from behind. "Eddie, isthis for real?"

At the sound of her voice, they both turned around just in time to see Marian approaching, tearsstreaming down her face.

She rushed up and grabbed Edwin's hand, her voice quivering with emotion. "Eddie, if she isn'tMay's child, then where is my real granddaughter?"

Marian was sobbing so hard she could barely speak. The thought of her daughter being harmedand her grandchild switched at birth was tearing her apart inside.

Edwin immediately spoke in a soothing tone, "Grandma, please try to stay calm. I've already gotpeople looking into it. We had a lead, but Heidi cut it off. We're working on other ways to find her."

At his words, Marian's crying ceased abruptly. Her expression slowly turned to ice.

"James, bring Paolo to me. I want to ask him why. Why did he betray May? Not only did he have achild with another woman, but he switched my granddaughter too!"

James quickly tried to calm her, "Mom, don't worry. I'll settle things with Paolo. Let's go home, andwe'll talk."

Meanwhile, on the other side.

Witnessing Heidi's downfall, Ryker couldn't help but smirk with satisfaction. "Clara, feeling betternow?"

Clara offered a faint smile. "It's a relief, yes. But our actions have dragged Marian into this mess, embarrassing her alongside Heidi." She couldn't explain it, but seeing Marian in distress made her

heart ache.

Sasha was less sympathetic. "It's their own fault for letting the York family parade around like that. IfI hadn't been quick today, Heidi would have found out you're pregnant. That woman is morevenomous than a viper. She tried to hurt you, and when that failed, she tried to expose my fakepregnancy. I couldn't let it go without teaching her a lesson."

Clara was about to respond when her phone rang. Seeing an international number, she quicklyanswered.novelbin

"Ms. Clara, this is the admissions office from TF University. Your application has been approved.School starts on February 8th. Welcome to our academic community."

At this news, a look of indescribable emotion crossed Clara's face, which should have been lit upwith joy. She murmured a thanks.

The person on the other end continued with a lot of information about enrollment, which shecarefully noted down.

After hanging up the phone, she turned around, her eyes unexpectedly moist. Sasha expressedconcern immediately. "What's going on? Is there a problem?"

"I start school on February 8th, so I have to leave on the 6th."

"That soon? It's the 30th today. I suddenly feel so uneasy hearing you're leaving."

As she spoke, Sasha pulled Clara into a hug. She knew all too well how difficult this departure wasfor Clara. The thought of leaving behind her career and her recently mended relationship with Ianmust be unbearable.

If it weren't for necessity, how would she choose to leave now?

Sasha stroked Clara’s back, offering comfort. "It's probably for the best to leave early. Who knowswhat kind of spiteful thing Heidi might do if she found out the truth."

Clara nodded faintly, "I'll head back to Northbridge tomorrow to pack my things. I haven't told mydad yet. I don't know if he'll come with me."

"He will. Casey loves you so much. If he knows about the baby, he'll do everything to be with you.But what about Ian? Are you really going to keep the truth from him?"
