Chapter 265

“I know how much the idea of not being able to have children means to you, but that day, seeingeverything you did for me, I just couldn’t help wanting to be with you.

“I was planning to wait until you were discharged from the hospital to tell you. If you couldn’t acceptit, we could part ways.

“Ian, let’s give it a shot, okay? If it turns out I really can’t get pregnant, I’ll leave on my own. Iwouldn’t want to make things difficult for you.”

Her voice was shaking so much as she spoke. It felt like her heart was bleeding out.novelbin

Ian’s throat tightened painfully, and he pulled her close into his arms, kissing away the tears on hercheeks.

How deeply must this silly girl love him to still think of his feelings even after her own body had beenhurt? Throughout it all, she never once complained that the hurt was indirectly caused by him.

Ian’s heart ached as if it were being torn apart. As he kissed Clara’s cheeks, his voice was hoarsewith emotion. “Clara, are you trying to break my heart? How much have you suffered in silence? Were those herbal teas bitter? Did it hurt every time you saw a child?”

“Clara, tell me, does it hurt?”

The thought of her drinking bitter herbal teas for three months, the image of her eyes welling up withtears whenever she saw Roger’s daughter – it sent sharp pains through every nerve in Ian’s body.

He held Clara tightly, his hot lips kissing her face ceaselessly.

Her eyes, wet with tears, fluttered slightly. “Ian, let’s just try, okay? I don’t want to be the blacksheep of the Hayes family, nor do I want to give up on us too easily. I’ll take my medicine, go

through treatments. I want to believe in miracles, to have a child that’s ours.”

“If the heavens don’t bless me, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t get pregnant, I’ll leave on myown. I won’t cause you any trouble, okay?”

Her gaze was sincere. Her eyes were as gentle as a calm lake. Ian struggled to define what he wasfeeling at that moment – a bittersweet turmoil. His cool fingertips gently stroked the reddenedcorners of Clara’s eyes. His voice was deep and husky. “Clara, if the heavens don’t look after you, then I’ll be your guardian angel, and I’ll make all your wishes come true.”

He nuzzled against her curled lashes with the tip of his nose. “So baby, are you ready? I’m about togrant your first wish — to get pregnant.” As he spoke, a warm hand was already caressing its wayup the inside of her thigh.

Clara finally caught on to Ian’s implications, shivering all over. “Ian, we’re in the car.”

“Don’t worry. We’re home now and no one can see us. I’ve heard that trying different settings canbe more exciting, might even increase the odds of pregnancy. Let’s give them all a shot tonight.”

The backseat was folded down, and somehow, Clara’s gown had found its way to the floor. Heenveloped her in a passionate, fiery kiss as the cool air outside contrasted with the heat inside thecar.

By the time everything was over, Clara was nearly out of breath. She let Ian carry her upstairs andinto the warm bath.

She thought she’d seen the full extent of Ian’s wild side in the car, but once they were in thebedroom, Clara realized that was just the appetizer. Now, Ian was truly unleashing his wolfishnature.

Water splashed out of the tub as their bodies collided.

At the last moment, Ian hit the pause button, whispering temptations into Clara’s ear. “Baby, call me‘hubby’.”

Clara turned her head, feigning resistance. But the next second, Ian’s movement made her softlycry out “hubby.”

Satisfied, he chuckled, kissing her all over as his voice resonated with a hook that seemed to tug atthe very core of her being.

“My baby, my wife, I love you.”
