Matilda put her knife and fork down. “You guys carry on. I’m done.” Then she left the dining room.

William looked up at Matilda. “Your mom is still unwell?” he asked John.

However, Sophia answered, “Yeah. She said she has difficulty breathing, and her chest feels stuffy. Iwonder why.”

John looked at her, his eyes smiling. He never knew Sophia was this smart. When they were done withdinner, he held her hand and went out for a walk, leaving Matilda and William in the house. Since they had gone out for a walk, only Matilda and William were left in the house. William asked ifshe was feeling better, and it took her a few moments to reply that she was fine. Matilda was a bad liar,and even the smallest lie would sell her out. Even so, she tried to stay calm so she wouldn’t beexposed.
