Chapter 658

Since when did I start feeling safe around John? She thought about it long and hard before reachingthe conclusion that it might’ve happened when John went after her all the way to her village. Back then, she was all alone, feeling unwell both physically and emotionally when he popped up.

Standing by the car, he looked all haggard from all the traveling he had done to reach there, telling herthat he went after her as he was concerned for her. Sophia had to admit that she was touched by hisactions. He had to cover all that distance without someone to guide him, which probably gave him ahard time. There had always been a special place for him in her heart, so she couldn’t possibly beunaffected by what he did.

Robin leaned into her chair while joking, “I like men like John. He is capable and extremely handsome.I wouldn’t need to worry about anything when I’m with him, as he could handle it all on his own.”

Smiling, Sophia begged to differ. “You must be overestimating him. He couldn’t deal with his ownmother at all.”

Admittedly, even William had a hard time dealing with her, say less of John. At the mention of Matilda,Sophia was suddenly feeling a little awkward. She could see Matilda was trying to be nice to her, butshe had a hard time adjusting to the sudden change in Matilda’s attitude as they had always been onbad terms.

Sophia drank the soup while chatting with Robin, and she ended up finishing it all. Leaning into herchair with a bloated stomach, she commented, “I’m definitely gonna gain weight after drinking all ofthis.” novelbin

It elicited a laugh from Robin. “It seems that what your ex-mother-in-law made is to your taste.” Afterthat, she went to wash the container before watching Sophia from beside the bar counter. “Lincolnwould like me to meet his parents, but I’m a little hesitant. Isn’t this going a little too fast?” Lincoln wasthe young man whom Robin had been dating.

Staring at Robin, Sophia queried, “Do you like him?”

Robin blinked in puzzlement. “I’m not exactly sure about it. I suppose I do like certain aspects of him.He is nice to me, and time spent with him is always joyful and comfortable.” However, she wasn’tcertain if her feelings would warrant her marrying the guy. If she went with the flow and agreed to themarriage, she wondered if she would come to regret her decision.

In short, Robin had her doubts. She knew she was trying to soothe the wounds she received from herprevious relationship, so her initial plan was to give it a go and take it slow with Lincoln. However, itturned out that Lincoln was super serious about their relationship, which was starting to give her somepressure.

Sophia wasn’t in a position to offer any advice, as her own love life was a mess. Upon recalling herconversation with Ian over the phone, she realized that despite her avoidant attitude, she already hadall the answers to Ian’s questions. She was only ever sensitive toward her relationship with John whilemissing out on clues regarding other peoples’ feelings since she never considered them as romanticprospects.

Therefore, she reacted too slow and too late toward Ian’s advances. If she knew early on that Ian hadfeelings for her, she would’ve put some distance between them, or at least try to clear things upbetween them earlier.

Robin was feeling a little depressed, nor was Sophia in a good mood upon thinking about Ian. Becausethere weren’t a lot of customers, the two of them were stuck doing nothing in the shop. By noon,Sophia decided to take a nap on the table as she was feeling a little drowsy.

However, Robin gave her a pat on the shoulder. “You should get some rest at home. I should be able tohandle everything since there aren’t a lot of customers. I can see that you’re still recovering from yourprevious trip, so you should go home. Just leave everything to me!”

Truth be told, Sophia was feeling a little shameful to have left almost all of the work to Robin while shewas constantly away.
