Chapter 2144

Everyone seemed pretty solemn after hearing the news. Ian took some time out of his day to give Seana call, and he got straight to his point by asking if Sean knew anything about Leah's situation. Sean hadjust heard the news at that point. "Yeah. The news hasn't been released, though. How did you hearabout it?" Sean paused for a moment before he realized how Ian might have found out. "Was itLogan?"

"Yeah," Ian replied before telling Sean about what he heard from Logan. Sean received a similarversion of the news, but he told Ian about his thoughts. "I heard that Simon came back just a while ago.I'm not sure when his exact return date was, but I wonder if he's related to this." Sean hadn't givenmuch thought to Leah, especially after what Logan did to her. She had been bedridden in the hospitalfor a while, and her face had been ruined. Sean didn't care much about her as he assumed that shewouldn't be able to do much with the state she was in. He was, therefore, shocked when he heardabout the news of her death.

When Sean got his men to investigate Leah's situation, he received the news of Simon's return. However, nothing was certain just yet, so Sean figured that he would wait for the police to announcetheir findings. Ian was rather worried for Sean. "Will you get in trouble? Things seemed to have endedbadly for her, and you had a fight with her previously."

Sean sighed. "It's fine. I didn't do anything, anyway, so I'm not worried. If the police drop by tointerrogate me, I'll just tell them the truth. I didn't do anything, so they won't be able to put the blame onme." Even though what Sean said was true, it was also likely that his business would be affected oncethe news was out.

While Ian was worried about Sean, Sean felt more worried about Ian. "I'm fine since the public doesn'tnovelbin

follow my life as much. We all know each other in the business industry, and the news doesn't affect ussince we can do a simple cost-benefit analysis to figure what's the best way forward for everyone. Butyou're an artist—I'm afraid you might be the one who's more affected by the news. You should talk toyour company about it. Perhaps it would be best to prepare some legal documents before anythinghappens."

Ian licked his lips thoughtfully. "I don't think I'll be affected that badly. I'm not in the same city as her, anyway. I don't think my career will be impacted since I won't be a suspect." Sean let out a sigh of reliefupon hearing Ian's words. "Well, that's good then. We shouldn't be too bothered by the news if itdoesn't affect us. Now that this is over, I guess we can close this chapter of our lives."

Ian pressed his lips and kept quiet for a while before grunting in agreement. Once all of this is over,Leah will be completely out of our lives. She won't be able to cause trouble for us anymore. But…Maybe it's not right to think that way. This is a person's life we're talking about, after all.

Sean had other matters to handle, so he told Ian that he would update him if he received any news, and they got off the call after that. Ian packed his bags a little before he left the hotel and headed overto the production set. Valerie wasn't around that day—someone told Ian that she had taken a day off.Ian wasn't too bothered by this. He simply focused on shooting his scenes. He was nearly done withhis shots when the driver walked over with a phone. "Look, look. The news is out," the driver whisperedto Ian.

Leah had been the only thought occupying Ian's mind that day, so Ian naturally assumed that the driverwas referring to Leah's news. He immediately took the phone over. However, the news article wasn'tabout Leah at all—instead, it was about Valerie. Apparently, Valerie had updated her status to admither relationship with one of the rookie male celebrities. She claimed that they would work on theirrelationship and asked the public to give them space even if they didn't support her relationship with

him. The public wasn't too shocked by the news of their relationship—after all, there had already beenspeculations spreading around prior to her announcement.
