Chapter 2115

It didn't take long for Cindy to drift off into slumber after she had lied down for a while, and when shewoke up again, sunlight was already spilling through the bedroom window.

She felt much more reinvigorated after getting some sleep the night before. She sat up in bed andwaited for the grogginess to pass before going into the bathroom to wash up. She had only justreturned to the room when she heard her phone ringing.

She hurried over to the nightstand and grabbed her phone, only to see that it was another text from Ianupdating her on his tasks of the day. He had already left for the set.

Upon reading this, she clutched her phone and replied to Ian, asking him to give all his best and to beon good behavior.

He sent her a kissing emoji after that and added nothing more to the conversation, but she hadconsiderably cheered up.

After putting on a change of clothes, she headed out of the bedroom and saw that Aurora was alreadyin the kitchen making breakfast.

Cindy greeted her with a smile. "Good morning. You're up early today."

Aurora brought breakfast out on a tray and said, "I couldn't go back to sleep after I woke up in themiddle of the night. I wanted to see if you were awake so we could stay up for a girls' talk, but when Iknocked on your door and heard nothing from your end, I figured you must have fallen asleep. Hence, Iwent back to my room."

As she blinked, Cindy thought about this and sputtered. "I didn't hear you knock at all. I must havebeen sleeping like a log." She then asked, "What happened to have made you lose sleep in the middleof the night? Did that man call you again?"

Aurora finished making breakfast, but even as she picked up her spoon, she couldn't summon a shredof appetite. She leaned back pensively into her seat and said, "He called me last night, and I picked upbecause I was bored. He didn't say anything important, but he sounded really drunk and wouldn't stopwith the nonsense. Frankly, I couldn't care less and found it rather annoying that a man could becomeso unreasonable just to make a quick buck. I don't know why, but I couldn't sleep after the call, so I'vebeen irritated ever since."

Cindy pursed her lips. "To be fair, I would've been pretty affected if a guy didn't stop pestering me, andthis is even if I have no sentiments for him whatsoever. Don't worry, I'm sure this will pass. Also, don'tanswer any of his calls from now on. He might sort things out for himself and come to his senses afterhe calms down, and I'm sure that you'll feel better by then."

Aurora hummed in response and pointed out self-deprecatingly, "Honestly, this is the first time I'mdealing with something like this. Most of my past relationships either ended amicably or in a brawl, butit was a clean break either way; none of my other exes tried to give me crap years later."

This was probably why she was so unsettled now that she was being badgered by the man.

Following this, Cindy and Aurora went on to talk about a couple more things, most of which wereinsignificant. When they finished breakfast, Cindy stood up to leave for work.

She wasn't too worried about leaving Aurora alone at home, but she did remind her emphatically not to

entertain the man if he showed up. In actuality, one would think that after all that had happened in thepast few days, anyone with half a mind would know better than to show up and make a scene.

Granted, he might be reluctant to abandon his plans of landing himself a windfall, but he would at leastwait a couple of days for them to put their guards down before showing up again. novelbin

That said, to expect an ounce of intelligence and reason from this man would be overestimating him.

Aurora gaped at Cindy in mild amusement as she said, "You don't have to worry about me. I'm oldenough to take care of myself and to hold down the fort here, so just get to work before you're late. Areyou coming back for lunch? If you are, I'll make dishes for two, but I can sort out lunch on my own ifyou aren't."

Cindy quickly answered, "Yes, I'll be coming home for lunch. I don't plan on having my meal at thecompany cafeteria."

She hated the feeling of being judged and discussed by others behind her back while dining in thecafeteria. Besides, she didn't want Aurora to hold back on her meals, and she didn't mind coming homefor lunch if it meant that Aurora would eat properly.

As such, both of them agreed on lunch before Cindy left for work.

On the other hand, Aurora went back to the couch and heaved a weary sigh as she took her seat. Shewas supposed to go into the studio for a soundcheck during the last two days, but in the wake of all thistrouble, Hannah had suggested that she stay put at home and lay low for the time being.
