Chapter 1987

Ian grunted and went to the elevator, while Cindy went to the balcony and looked down. She saw Iancoming out, and then Ian looked up at her and waved.

After Ian was gone, Cindy went back to the bedroom. She couldn't sleep anymore, so she sat aroundbefore she went to make breakfast. There was still some time before work started after she was doneeating breakfast, so she got her pen and paper out to make another design. There wasn't any theme. She just thought about it, so she drew it out. Once she was done, she straightened herself up and wentto work.

She used to love her work, but because of her current environment, her mood was affected no matterhow much she tried to ignore them. Because of that, Cindy never was happy at work. She wasn'tupset, but she wasn't delighted either.

Most of the apprentices were already there when she came. Since Cindy had nothing to do, she pickedanother theme from the file and made a draft. She wasn't bored doing the same thing every day, but itwould be better if her colleagues would just shut up.

Halfway through her work, she heard someone mocking her loudly. "Really? I thought she had aboyfriend? And now she's going out with another guy. Honestly, she's just a five out of ten. How did sheeven do that?" novelbin

She knew that they were talking about her. Someone must have seen her getting out of Gary's car andhad spread rumors. She didn't care about them if they only talked about her getting the job because ofher connections, since that was true. However, she wouldn't take it if they attacked her personality.

She slammed her pen on the table and looked at the employee who was talking. "If you havesomething to say, then say it. There's no point being snide. If you want to mock someone, at least bebold about it. Honestly, how can you even do that without shame?"

The ladies kept mocking Cindy because they thought she was a pushover, but now that Cindy wasretaliating, she felt embarrassed, so the lady snapped, "Yeah, I'm talking about you, but so what? You're saying you never did that?"

Cindy laughed. "Of course I didn't. So what if you saw it with your own eyes? You spread the rumorsjust because of some hearsay? Someday you'll get a big slap on the face, you know? And you callyourself a graduate? You can't even analyze the situation correctly. All that education, wasted."

Cindy looked calm. Even though she was mocking them, she didn't even look angry. She couldn'targue well, but she wouldn't back off from a fight. Then, she looked around at the employees who hadbeen talking about her. "You're all talking about me because I came in through my connections, right?Yeah, I did. So what? My connection's powerful. He knows the boss. Keep this up and I'll make your lifehard, you hear me?"

Cindy added, "Do you think I don't know you guys are mocking me behind my back? I'm a sneakyperson, and I love stabbing people in the back. I don't have to argue with any of you if I want to get myrevenge. You're not worth my time. I have more than one way to make sure you get the boot."

Nobody knew if what she said was true, but Cindy did manage to shut them up. The employees whowere huddled together to gossip looked embarrassed. They exchanged glances with each other andpursed their lips, then went back to their own seats.
