Chapter 1700

Although Ian and Cindy had been in such close proximity before, it felt different this time.

He was thoughtful for a moment before he nudged closer toward her. She must have been exhausted, for she didn’t notice his movement at all.

Now that their distance was reduced, their breaths intermingled.

In all honesty, he wasn’t sure why he was drawn closer to her in the first place. On one hand, he wasmore than aware of his developing romantic feelings for her whereas on the other, he reckoned it wasall due to the time they spent with each other.

Man was nothing if not sentimental and having spent most of his days with her, he didn’t think it wassurprising for him to fall for her, even in the slightest.

He readily dissected his newfound affection for her instead of denying it, but he couldn’t promise that itwould last forever. There was no telling whether his romantic interest in her would fade in the event thatthey went their separate ways.

Ian sighed wearily at this thought. As it turned out, thinking was a dangerous game wherein ponderingon such matters would only frustrate him.

The both of them slept for quite a while and Cindy was the first to awaken afterward. She was relievedto discover that they were not entwined in each other’s arms unlike before, although she was a bitstartled to see how closely they lay next to each other.

As she blinked her grogginess away, she finally exhaled.

Since he was still asleep, she exercised effort to minimize the rustling and moving as she proppedherself up. While she hesitated for a brief second, she couldn’t help but gaze at him.

There was a naivety to him when he slept, his expression soft and his features relaxed. Franklyspeaking, Cindy often found him to be a perplexing person because he had many thoughts andemotions that he kept to himself.

However, Ian was always the type to brood and suffer in silence, apart from not talking much about hisfeelings.

She wondered whether it had something to do with the environment that he grew up in. With all thatoccurred within the Morgan Family, it was only normal for him to learn to keep his behavior in checksince he was a child and ultimately resulted in him being so repressive.

Presently, Cindy got out of bed and left the bathroom to splash water on her face. When she was done, she entered the kitchen and discovered that the sky outside had darkened, which meant she sleptthrough dinner time.

She went about making supper, but not even two minutes had passed when Aurora burst out of herown bedroom. However, Aurora looked distinctly unsettled to the point where Cindy even noticed heranxious frown.

Cindy bristled and hurried out of the kitchen to ask, “What is it? What’s wrong?”

Aurora had initially wanted to head into Ian’s bedroom, but when she heard Cindy’s voice, she turned

with her phone in hand and urgently replied, “Something bad has happened. Quickly come and take alook for yourself!”

Then, Cindy approached her and took the phone as her eyes fell on the news that was displayed onthe screen. She skimmed through the article before immediately looking away in disgust.

She was hardly astonished to see that it was more gossip being heaped upon Ian, but this time, theinsider even alleged that Ian was a kleptomaniac since young. Apparently, he had stolen money andjewelry from the family before selling them at below market value for his pocket money.

The insider further divulged that when Ian became a Casanova, Ian claimed that he was the SecondYoung Master Morgan to scam innocent girls and cheat their feelings.

News like this would normally lack credit for want of corroboration and it would be brushed off asbaseless gossip. However, the insider in question happened to one of Ian’s relatives and it was noneother than his stepbrother Simon.

Unfortunately, both of them had grown up under the same roof, so whatever nonsense Simon spewedwould still be credible.

At this thought, Cindy’s brows knitted together. She pushed the bedroom door open without anyhesitation and walked in.

On the other side of the door, Ian thought he heard Aurora’s voice and stirred from sleep. He had onlyjust sat up in bed when Cindy burst through the door and was still a little groggy when he asked, “Whatis it? What happened?”

Cindy sullenly handed the phone over to him. “Take a look for yourself.”

He clutched the phone and scanned the article before scoffing in contempt, “I guess Simon panickedafter learning about my hospital visit earlier today. He was probably worried that I said something to theold man and that I’ll benefit from it, so he resorted to spilling lies to the media to save himself. It’s not abig deal. In fact, everything’s perfectly falling into plan.”

She was seething with rage. “What do you mean that everything’s perfectly falling into plan? Where didhe even summon the nerve to come up with all this nonsense?”novelbin
