Chapter 1679

If Ian were being honest, he had no idea how to act in front of Cindy. He simply didn’t wish for him orCindy to sleep on the ground, nor did he want either of them to sleep on the couch outside. That leftthem with one solution.

Cindy was genuinely exhausted from playing badminton earlier. Although it wasn’t an intense sport, shehad never lived an active lifestyle, so she was worn out by the end of the day. After some hesitation, she finally went over to sit on the other end of the bed with her head hung low. As she listened to thesound of Ian’s game coming from his phone, she felt a little more at ease.

When Cindy took her phone and checked her notifications, she didn’t see any messages from Peter. Idon’t think he’ll ever ask me to play badminton with him again. That’s good. I’ve always been bad atsocializing with people, so I’d get frustrated if I had to spend more time with those people. Moreover, that girl will feel troubled if I’m around all the time. I don’t think there’s a need for that.

After that, Cindy scrolled through some of the latest celebrity gossip on the news site. There were onlya few people who were still bringing up Ian’s news, and most of them were Internet trolls whorepeatedly dug up past scandals and rumors that were related to Ian. Not many people were payingmuch attention to Ian’s news, so Cindy was relieved. Soon, she could no longer keep her eyes open,so she lay down in bed and pulled the sheets over her. She faced her back against Ian as she shut hereyes and tried to sleep.

There were two separate blankets on the bed, and Cindy figured that Ian had prepared the second onefor her. She drifted off to sleep almost immediately after her head hit the pillow, but she couldn’t seemto go into a deep sleep. Every now and then, she would wake up for a short while, and she immediatelynoticed when Ian stopped gaming on his phone.

Although she was awake, she kept her body still and her eyes shut. Ian had decided not to playanother game, so he turned his phone off and lay down with the other blanket over his body. He turnedthe lights off, and darkness filled the space between them. Both of them slept with their backs facingeach other, and neither of them made any noise at all.

Cindy licked her lips and realized that her mouth felt rather dry. She couldn’t seem to stop replaying thescene from this morning. Ian had been lying beside her as well—their position now wasn’t muchdifferent from the position they were in. With her eyes closed, Cindy continued to entertain her thoughtsfor nearly 30 minutes before her sleepiness took over and sent her into a deep sleep.

On the other hand, Ian remained awake on his side of the bed. He only turned around when he heardCindy’s breath slowing down. Cindy’s back was facing him, so all he could see was a figure under theblanket in the dark. Ian sighed. Why is this girl so hard to deal with? Most of the girls usually screamand shout when they see me. Why doesn’t she show the same interest toward me?

Ian’s thoughts left him feeling sorry for himself, and that sent him into a bad mood. Whenever he was ina bad mood, he would lose control of his actions. Before he knew what he was doing, he had alreadylifted his arm up, reached over, and rested his arm on Cindy’s shoulder. Although both of them weresleeping on opposite edges of the bed, the bed wasn’t huge, and he could reach her just by stretchinghis hand out.

Only then did he realize what he was doing. He was utterly shocked by his own actions, and heimmediately tensed. Fortunately, Cindy was still fast asleep and hadn’t realized anything.

In an attempt to compensate for his actions, Ian quietly tugged Cindy’s blanket up to make sure thatshe wouldn’t get cold in the middle of the night. After that, he rolled over and faced his back againstnovelbin

Cindy before letting out a long sigh.

Cindy had actually been asleep the whole time—she had used too much of her brain juice earlier today,so she slept like a dead log throughout the night. Ian took some time to calm himself down before heshut his eyes and told himself to sleep. Although he didn’t have work the next day, he would still haveto see Cindy and Aurora the next morning, so he couldn’t let his guard down. Both these women are sohard to deal with, he grumbled in his heart.

Throughout the night, Cindy had an extremely long dream that she couldn’t seem to escape from.
