He was already getting annoyed. After a while, Yulia texted ‘Okay’, then she said nothing else. Ian heldhis phone and raised his head to look at Cindy.
This time, even Aurora was taking part. She was playing badminton with another guy, and from thelooks of it, she was enjoying the game. Apparently, they had forgotten about him and left him to his owndevices.
Ian got jealous, so he stayed back to see when they’d stop playing. However, they actually did forgetabout him and kept on playing.
Cindy seldom got around. Even when she didn’t have work, she’d just stay at home. It had been a longtime since she had so much fun, so she went ahead and played as hard as she could.
It was the same deal with Aurora. Her life used to be in the slums. Even though it got slightly betterafter she came to live with Ian, but then all the haters overwhelmed her. It had been a long time sinceshe didn’t have to worry about anything and had so much fun.
The two of them played until dusk when the street lamps lit up and the shuttlecock became hard to see.They had to stop then, but Cindy had a good sweat, and she felt better than before. Then, she handedthe racket back to the guy and thanked him.
The guy said sheepishly, “Do you stay here? Why don’t you add me on WhatsApp? I meet with myfriends here from time to time. I can call you when that happens.”
Before Cindy could say anything, Aurora urged, “Go ahead. Just remember to take me along.”
Since Aurora had said so, Cindy couldn’t refuse. She took her phone out and added the guy onWhatsApp. After that, they packed their stuff and left, while Cindy held Aurora’s arm and wavedgoodbye to them.
Ian had been waiting for a long time. After they left, he came over. “Did you have fun?”
CIndy looked at him coolly. “Yes.”
Aurora nodded. “We did! They’re good kids.” She held Cindy’s arm as well and started walking home.“That game got me hungry. We should take a shower and make dinner.”
“Sure.” Cindy then swung her arms. “It’s been a while since I exercised so much.”
“Me too. That was some great training for me as well.”
They went away, leaving Ian behind. Nobody was talking to him, and he almost burst with anger. That’sall I get for waiting all this time?
After they reached home, Aurora went to take a shower first. Cindy sat on the couch and turned the TVon, while Ian stood beside the couch quietly.
After a moment of silence, Cindy’s phone buzzed. The guy from earlier had texted her, saying that theygot home.
Cindy texted back saying she was home too, and that she had a great game.
Ian gnashed his teeth. A great game? Oh, so you’re happy, huh?
The guy sent a voice message next, and Cindy played it without even caring that Ian was there. Heasked her when she would be free so they could invite her the next time they came. She told himtruthfully that she was free anytime because she didn’t have much to do recently.
The guy replied happily, “I see. If it’s fine, can I invite you tomorrow? Same time?”
