Chapter 1546

Naomi was thumping her fist on her chest. “Why do they bully single people like me? When I wasworking, I saw them showing off their relationship. After work, I have to look at you showing off. Itseems like I’m doomed!”

Cindy, however, refuted in a small voice, “Since when have I done that? You are making everything upin your mind.”

In order to prevent Naomi from retaliating and continuing the pointless conversation, Cindy quicklybrought up the main topic and asked, “What time are you getting off work today? Do you want to havedinner at my place?”

Naomi felt a little shy upon hearing that. “I can’t always have free food at your place. Wouldn’t thataffect your alone time with Ian? If I’m always at your place, I’m sure he will be annoyed with me.”

Cindy chuckled and reassured, “Don’t worry about it. His mother always comes over for dinner and wedon’t have much alone time to begin with. You are overthinking things.”

After a moment of hesitation, Naomi probably felt that being alone was rather boring, so she conceded,“Alright, then. I’ll go over after work today.” Thereafter, she had something else to work on, so she hungup quickly.

Cindy put the phone away and leaned against the chair. After hesitating for a while, she sent Ian amessage. It was nothing serious. She told him that she was out and asked when he would return. Shewas just worried that he might not see her when he came back.

Even though she didn’t know if he would get anxious if he did not see her, it was an assistant’sresponsibility to report things like these to him. However, Ian did not reply to her, so she wondered if hemissed her message because he was busy.

When he did not reply, she just thought that he was still busy with his matters, so she got up andwalked out of the neighborhood. Without him around, no one took notice of her. novelbin

In the end, she walked to the nearest mall to look at the latest fashion. She graduated from fashiondesign, so she was more inclined to this area.

Cindy kept thinking that after she had gained financial independence, she wanted to go back to her oldprofession. After all, she had spent so much time and effort on that, and she did not want to throw it alldown the drain. Hence, she was very sure that one day, she would like to return to the fashion designindustry.

Her attention solely focused on fashion, Cindy soon forgot the passing of time. She walked around theentire mall and looked at different designs, while the sky became darker outside.

By the time she returned to her senses, it was already evening. Hence, she quickly took out her phone, but she did not receive any calls or messages. Has Ian not seen my message till now?

In the end, she quickly took a cab home. When she reached home, she found that he still had notreturned. In fact, the entire house was empty. Then, she walked to his room and took a peek inside. Itseemed that indeed he had not returned, because it looked exactly the same before she left.

Since she had already asked Naomi over, she still prepared dinner after a moment of hesitation. It was

that she got lost in her thoughts when she was making the preparations. After all, Ian was away allafternoon and he did not even check in with her.

Logically speaking and based on common courtesy, he should have told her by now if he was cominghome or not, be it through phone call or messaging. Hence, Cindy had no idea what had gotten intohim this time. This had never happened before.

After working on dinner for a while, everything was almost ready. Just at this moment, Naomi calledher. Cindy then asked her friend to come to her place directly, and Naomi asked jokingly if everyonewas already here.

After thinking about it, the former said, “Ian has some business at the company, so I’m not sure if hewill be home on time. If not, we will start dinner first.”

Naomi did not think too much into it and she hung up after agreeing.

In between cooking, Cindy had some free time. In the end, she could not help herself and picked upher phone to call Ian. She was worried that he might not see her messages even if she sent any. It wasmore convenient to directly call him. However, he did not pick up the phone when she rang the firsttime.

Cindy frowned, wondering if something had happened to him. After all, he had not replied to any of hermessages nor did he pick up her calls for the entire afternoon. It was quite out of character for him, tosay the least.
