Chapter 1544

She did not know what else to say.

At that exact moment, Ian leaned against the seat and saw Cindy hesitating with her phone in herhand.

Without even having to speculate, he knew who the person on the other end was.

Cindy did not have many friends. Apart from Naomi, he had never seen her contacting anyone else.

She rarely even called her family members. Recently, the only other person she had been in frequentcontact with was Gary.

In the end, Ian then retracted his gaze and turned around to look outside the window. novelbin

It was only until the car was parked in the neighborhood that he got out of the car. Without even biddinggoodbye to the driver, he went home directly.

Cindy was slightly shocked when she saw this, and she stood on the same spot as she looked at hisleaving figure. After Ian finished filming the show, she felt that something about him was off and it wasas if he was angry with someone.

He was usually quite good-tempered, so Cindy could not think of what could have happened during theshooting that would make him react in this way.

She then turned around and smiled apologetically at the driver. “I think he’s in a bad mood after filmingthe show just now. I have no clue who had offended him. He didn’t speak to me just now either.”

However, the driver could not care less and he just hummed in agreement. “Get in there quickly. It’stime for me to go home too. Recently, my life has been quite comfortable. I’m not busy everyday, so Iwon’t bear grudges on such a small thing like this. Perhaps he has some troubles on his mind.”

Cindy nodded and said goodbye to him before she quickly hurried into the unit.

After Ian reached home, he took a shower and removed all the makeup on his face before changing hisclothes.

Cindy shot a glance at the kitchen. Before she could even decide on what to cook, Ian walked outagain, looking like he was about to head out.

She froze and took two steps to the living room. “Are you going out? Did something happen?”

He did not look at her as he said, “I’m going to the company for a while. You can just stay at home—there’s no need to follow me there. If you are hungry, make something for yourself to eat. I might not beback for dinner.”

She hummed in reply. As soon as she did that, Ian had already opened the door and walked outside.

After a while, she retracted her gaze and turned to look at the fridge. However, she closed the fridgedoor relatively quickly.

Since Ian was not coming back for dinner, there was no need for her to cook anymore. Instead, shewould just make some noodles.

Hence, she went to the store room and took out a packet of instant noodles. After the water had boiled, she placed the noodles into the pot and added some vegetables in it. Everything was quick and themeal was done in a few minutes.

It’s just easier to eat alone.

Cindy then walked to the dining table and ate the noodles while she looked at the news online.

There was a lot of gossip in the entertainment industry. One day, a celebrity might announce theirrelationship and the next day, another couple might break up. There was news every single day.

She merely looked at the top searches. It was finally not her and Ian now.

She wondered if they would make waves after participating in the couples’ reality show.

Just as she was reading the news, her phone rang again.

She looked at the caller ID for a long time before she picked it up.

It was her mother. Without even waiting for her to speak, Cindy already knew why she called.

Hence, she asked first, “How much money do you want?”

Hazel seemed quite awkward. “Your younger brother’s living expenses are quite a lot. You also knowthat I don’t earn much. It’s just enough for my own use, and I really don’t have enough for him—”

“Just tell me how much you need,” Cindy cut in, not wanting to listen to her excuses. Since shegraduated, her mother had been calling her to ask for money.

She had heard enough excuses from her.

Whatever one could or could not think of, Hazel had used it before.

Even if she was not tired of finding so many excuses, Cindy was tired of hearing them.

After a moment, Hazel replied, “It depends on you. Any amount is fine.”

Without another word, Cindy hung up and transferred five thousand to her mother.

After that, there was no news from the latter. At that point, Cindy was not in the mood to readentertainment news any longer, so she placed her phone back to the table and finished the noodlesquickly.
