Chapter 1494

Naomi didn’t feel like Cindy was purposefully distracting her either. She turned to Cindy and said,“Something came up at their company, so I didn’t stay for too long. Otherwise, it would’ve taken up a lotmore of my time.”

Cindy nodded attentively. “Will your business trip be extended this time, then? Would you be able tosettle your company’s matters in a day?”

Naomi scratched her head and replied, “I’m not sure; there seems to be a bit of trouble. I’ll just requestfor an extension from my company if I really need to. It’s pretty convenient.”

“Ah,” said Cindy. “I see.”

Just then, Naomi shifted her attention toward the studio building again. “It’s not my responsibility, anyway. I’m not scared.”

Cindy took the opportunity to steal a glance at the sidewalk—Ian was already nowhere to be seen.

Naomi stared at the main gate of the building and raised her voice all of a sudden. “Could this really beGod’s will? Am I not destined to sneak a peek of a better man other than that cheating as*hole?”

Cindy chuckled as she looked around her thoroughly. Ian was nowhere in sight, but she didn’t knowwhether the feeling in her chest was relief or disappointment. The two stayed behind for a short whilebefore hailing a taxi and leaving in resignation.

Meanwhile, Ian had already spotted Cindy as he sat in the car. There was a woman standing next toher and they were chatting happily; it seemed like they were good friends. He seemed to have foundthe answer to the question that was troubling him all night yesterday. It appeared that she wasn’tstaying at home because she was with her friend.

Come to think of it, this friend of hers probably wasn’t a local of the city, or Cindy wouldn’t have neverbrought her up in their conversations before. As Ian leaned back in the seat, his driver spoke first. “Isaw Cindy earlier; she was with her friend.”

A few seconds passed before Ian replied, “Oh, is that so? I didn’t even pay attention. Was she on thesidewalk?”

“Yeah, I wanted to go and say hi, but her friend was there and I was afraid that they might be talkingabout something important. You could easily be exposed if I greeted her anyway, so I didn’t do it in theend.”

Ian simply smiled without a word. After that, his driver sent him home and they said goodbye at thelobby. He leisurely went up to his unit and went inside. Then, he briefly glanced at the empty livingroom and made a turn into his room, standing by the window and gazing outside for a while beforelying down on his bed. Although he wasn’t sleepy, he didn’t have anything else to do, so he simply laythere silently.

He suddenly remembered how he used to spend his days. Now that he thought about it, he had almostforgotten how he used to live. On days where he had a free schedule, he would come home and liedown for a while or watch some television. Back then, he didn’t feel bored at all, so why was he feeling

this way now?

Ian rolled over and whipped out his phone. There was an unread text message that had been there forquite some time. He already saw it when he first received it, but he simply never had the mood to openit. Now that he had nothing to do, he finally tapped into the message from Yulia.

The retouched versions of his photographs that were taken by her were out, and she had sent themover to him to ask for his opinion. Ian wondered if Yulia was this considerate to all her clients as shewas to him. Nonetheless, from his experience of doing magazine cover shoots, even photographersthat weren’t as well-known as Yulia had never sent him his retouched photos before.

Moreover, Hannah mentioned before that Yulia had an eccentric personality; she even informed him tonot take things too personally if the woman happened to say anything rude or blunt to him.

With that being said, Yulia probably wasn’t an approachable person, so Ian couldn’t tell what she wasthinking by doing this. Whatever it was, he never once took it as a sign of a romantic gesture. After all,Yulia was considered part of the entertainment industry as well; she must’ve seen countless attractivemen and women through her career.

Besides, someone with her level of status and ability had probably long since become immune to thesight of beautiful people. Thus, Ian didn’t know which part of him was capable of taking up her interest,so he couldn’t bring himself to make the bold assumption. novelbin

He held his phone in his hand for a while before he sent Yulia a message, telling her that he had justseen the photos after concluding his filming session.
