Chapter 1464

Cindy turned to look at Aurora. She talks about everything she has experienced in the past with asmile, but she probably feels uneasy deep down inside, she thought to herself. After a long time, sheresponded, “Ms. Jones, Ian’s agent, is very nice and capable. She dislikes flattery, but she likes peoplewho do things in a clear and efficient manner without mincing their words. If you can get on good termswith her, you’ll probably do well in the future.”

Aurora looked at Cindy for a moment and smiled. “Okay, I got it.”

The two women then chatted about the trivial matters in life as they prepared dinner together. On theother hand, Ian paced a few circles in the living room. The TV was on the whole time, but his eyesnever fell on it. After pacing for a while, he turned to look at the kitchen. The two women seemed to begetting along well as they talked and laughed in the kitchen. Seriously, how could these two women getalong so well when they share nothing in common in life? he thought to himself.

Ian stared at them for a while. Then, as he had something else on his mind, he turned around andentered his room. He had few acquaintances and lacked connections with the circle of capitalists. Therefore, he ended up calling Logan.

Logan answered the phone very quickly with a merry laugh, and it sounded like there were severalpeople around him. Ian lowered his voice and asked, “Are you busy, Logan?” novelbin

“No, I’ve never been busy,” Logan answered frankly. Then, he continued, “Guess where I am right now—I’m at Sophia’s place, and her son is simply too adorable. I’m telling you, I must have a daughter toscourge her son with in the future.”

“Oh,” Ian responded. “Is that so?”

“Haha!” Logan laughed on the other end of the line. Then, he asked, “What’s up? Why are you callingme at this hour? Do you have something to talk to me about?”

Ian had never stood in ceremony with Logan, so he replied, “Yes, I’d like to ask a favor of you.”

“Ah,” Logan replied. “Just hold on a minute—I’ll be going outside right away.” Some rustling soundswere heard on the other end of the line, followed by the sound of someone’s footsteps. A few secondslater, Ian heard Logan say, “Just tell me what it is. Are those b*stards bullying you again on theinternet? I’ve told you that I have to teach them a lesson. I’m an expert at calling names. I’ll hire sometrolls tomorrow to give those haters hell.”

Ian laughed for a moment before quickly telling Logan to dismiss the idea. “No, no, that’s not why I’mcalling you. These matters are already over. Now, there’s something else I’d like to ask for your helpwith. Could you please do me a favor?”

“Hey!” Logan responded. “Is it necessary for us to say the word ‘please’ to each other? Just tell me howI can help you. If I can do it, I promise that I’ll never turn you down.”

Ian let out a sigh. “It’s my mom. She came to me, saying that she wants to re-enter show business. Youknow what kind of person I am; I have few connections and resources, so I can’t be of much help toher. I was wondering if you could help me ask Lorraine to fix her up with some jobs. There’s no need tofind jobs that pay well. It’s fine as long as my mom gets to show her face.”

Logan was somewhat surprised. “Why did she go to you? Isn’t she doing well in life for now? Sheshould be doing fine by occasionally singing in bars in that small town. Is she trying to ride the wave of

your popularity now that she’s seen how popular you are?”

Ian paused for a moment before he replied, “She said she had split up with the man and wanted to tryher luck in show business once again. She told me a lot, but I couldn’t be bothered to analyze whethereverything she said was true or false. I just think I should help her as much as possible since she’s mymom. She probably has been resentful over the years. Now that she’s finally seen a glimmer of hope inme, I really don’t have the heart to turn her down flatly.”

At last, Logan could only reply with a sigh, “Okay, now that you’ve asked me, I’ll definitely help you. Ijust hope that her re-entry into show business won’t have too much impact on you. She hasn’t takengood care of you in the past, yet now she wants to ride the wave of your popularity to benefit from it.Ian, I really think of you as a close buddy of mine, so I’ll be blunt with you—I think your mother hasdone you a huge disservice.”

“Hehe.” Ian chuckled upon hearing Logan’s words. “Never mind, it doesn’t matter anymore. I don’t wantto make a fuss about it anymore at this point. So many years have passed, after all—there’s nothingthat I can’t get over and have to make a fuss about.”
