Chapter 1458

Cindy immediately thought of this as well. She replied with a nod, “You’re right. It’s thoughtful of you tohave it considered.” However, when Ian joined the shooting later, she would probably have toaccompany him as her personal assistant, which would definitely spark off all kinds of slanderousrumors again. Cindy frowned at the thought of this. After Ian sat down, she asked first, “If I go with youto the film set, will they think that I’m there to keep an eye on you?”

Ian raised his eyes to look at her. “Will they?”

“Why won’t they?” Cindy replied. Her analysis was closely reasoned and well-argued as she continued,“Just look at those celebrities. Whenever some say they’re carrying on with someone during filming, their boyfriend or girlfriend will visit them on set at once, and people will say they’re there to warn andintimidate them. If I go to the set with you every day, will everyone think that I’m working as yourpersonal assistant to keep you under my watchful eye?”

Ian blinked his eyes. “You do make some sense too.”

Cindy pouted her lips at once. “You guys won’t fire me because of this, will you? Will you then tell thepublic that you’re keeping me out of sight to keep me as a pet?”

Ian laughed at her words. “What are you thinking about? How could I have the nerve to fire you whenyou’ve got something on me?”

Cindy quickly turned Ian’s words over in her mind, and her eyes widened. “You’re right—I’ve gotsomething on you. In that case, you should talk to me with a better attitude instead of intimidating me atthe drop of a hat.”

Ian looked at her helplessly. “You said you graduated from college, so why are you not as quick-wittedas I am?”

Cindy let out a snort. “Look, you’ve started ridiculing me again. You really have got some nerve, bud.”

Ian hurriedly scooped up a ladleful of dishes and put it into her bowl. “Okay, I’ll be as nice to you aspossible from now on. For now, let’s hurry up and eat. Ah—”

Cindy couldn’t help but laugh. novelbin

They were now getting along better and better. After dinner, Ian went to the sofa and lounged on it likean old man, whereas Cindy put the dishes into the dishwasher. When she turned around, came out,and saw him like that, she gave it some thought before she went to get a thin blanket to cover him with. She had slept rather long just now and was now feeling energized. Meanwhile, Ian had no filmingschedule this afternoon. He didn’t have an overcrowded schedule for this month, which meant thatCindy didn’t have much to do all day today.

She sat down on the other side of the sofa and read the online news on her cell phone. These days, she would read the news reports whenever she wasn’t busy. After the unexpected twist in the news, more people had sided with her these days, making the news reports much more interesting. She hadbeen afraid of reading these things back when she was universally condemned earlier on.

Cindy had a quick read of the news reports and found that Linda had been silent after the latter’spersonal assistant had spoken. Back when the rumors were at their peak, Linda had often appeared onthe news to deliberately mislead public opinion. Every once in a while, someone would publish secretlytaken photos of Linda clinging to her friend in tears to prove that Linda had really suffered wrongs. After

all, one would definitely feel upset after being bullied by a couple junior to her. Even though some hadsuspected that these photographs were staged, public opinion sided with Linda at the time, so no onebothered that much about it.

Several news media even called Linda, and someone who seemed to be a member of her familyanswered their phone calls, saying how she had been in a bad mood and was shutting herself in with atearful face due to depression. All in all, Linda and those around her—including her family—had beengoing along with the tide of popular opinion online.

Now that Linda’s personal assistant had stepped forward and criticized her in public, she didn’t evendare to make a sound. Many netizens had asked her to show up and explain herself, yet shedisappeared without a trace. By going into hiding at this time, she had, in a way, acknowledged that herpersonal assistant’s claims were true. This immediately turned the tide of popular opinion, so manynetizens were now grouping together to denounce her as they had done to Sena before.

To make matters worse, Linda was inferior to Sena. Sena was at least capable, and despite herpreviously unsavory reputation, she had never been involved in scandals. On the other hand, therewere so many scandals about Linda that one could easily dig up a bunch of dirt on her without mucheffort. The news media loved to go with the tide of public interest, so they dug up the old gossip and thecompletely superficial and trivial stories about her to fight for public attention.
