Chapter 1441

Cindy felt like laughing whenever she uttered such words. I carry so many burdens with me. Anyonewho gets married to someone like me would only be asking for trouble. How could it be a treat to them?

Ian shifted his gaze to look at her. “Yeah. It’s true.”

She let out a hearty laugh. “I was kidding.” Both of them were starting to get along—their interactionswere more natural now and they no longer felt awkward. Ian turned the TV on and switched to arandom channel that happened to be playing a show that did deep dives into all sorts of gossip withinthe entertainment industry.

Most of the people in the entertainment industry had things to hide. It wasn’t just the entertainmentindustry—most people had dark secrets or nasty experiences. If one truly wished to scrutinize eachindividual, there wouldn’t be a person who was completely innocent. However, one’s deeds weremagnified when one was in the entertainment industry. For example, the issues brought up in the TVprogram that Ian and Cindy were watching wouldn’t be an issue if a regular individual were to do it.

However, the celebrities would receive all sorts of snarky and critical comments once their deeds wereexposed. “Tsk. These things don’t have much of an entertainment value, yet the media and press arealways keeping an eye on these celebrities and following them around,” Cindy commented.

Ian nodded. “Yeah. These people are the ones saying that the local celebrities are ruining the country’sreputation, yet they are the ones who are coming up with all these reports surrounding theentertainment industry. It’s like they’re shooting themselves in the foot. I don’t know when I’ll leave thisindustry. I’ve thought about it, and I don’t think there’s much of a reason for me to stay here. I feel likeall of my actions are being watched—how am I supposed to survive like this? I just hope that I’ll be able

to save up some funds so that I can do what I want to do.”

“What do you want to do?” Cindy turned to look at him. Ian recalled how he used to travel around andperform gigs in different bars. He was much happier back then. “I’d like to find someone who’s not inthe entertainment industry, and I’d like to go someplace that’s less economically developed with her. Iwant to live a slow-paced and simple life. That’s all I want.”

After the fight that occurred with Linda in the lounge, it only took half a day for the rumors to spread. Itwasn’t clear where the rumors came from, but the rumors were certainly not reflective of the truth.Instead, the rumors claimed that Cindy used her position as Ian’s girlfriend to act all haughty andarrogant within the company.

Furthermore, the rumors claimed that Cindy was the one who started the fight with Linda, all becauseLinda had made noises and disrupted Cindy’s sleep in the lounge. Some rumors even claimed thatCindy was the one who had smacked Linda’s assistant in the face.

The rumors traveled all around town as if it was the truth. Because of this, Ian’s fame, which had beendiminishing, shot back up once more. However, the attention he received this time wasn’t exactlypositive nor supportive. Apart from Ian’s most loyal fans, who would unconditionally support andunderstand anything that Ian or Cindy did, most fans were slightly critical of Ian.

The fact that Ian had gotten famous in such a short period of time made it harder for him to uphold hisreputation. Fortunately, the previous incident with Sena didn’t completely shatter his career. This time, there was definitely someone who was starting and fanning the flames in secret. Someone was tryingto make things worse for him. novelbin

Both Ian and Cindy had already finished their lunch when they saw the news. Cindy was frustratedsince the rumors were not true. How could someone with my status ever overpower someone likeLinda? These people are just following the crowd blindly. All they have to do is think, and they’ll realizethat Linda’s the one with the bad temper. How would she ever allow me to act tougher or above her inany way?

Cindy was certain that someone must have hired trolls to spread these rumors. Other than that, a goodnumber of people had formed groups that were specifically meant to criticize her. Ian had also receivedsome criticism because of this.

Since this wasn’t the first time Cindy found herself trending, she was able to withstand the pressure abit better this time round. However, she still felt rather sad after being boycotted by the majority of theonline users.

“I don’t need to give the public an explanation, do I?” Cindy looked at Ian.

Ian had just gotten off a call with Hannah, who had spoken to him in a harsh tone. “Hannah said thatshe’ll deal with this matter. However, considering the speed at which the media is spreading theserumors, she’s guessing that there’s someone behind all of this, and it’s not just one party. She wants usto remain silent for now.”
