Chapter 1185

Logan stood in the courtyard for some time, only turning around and returning to the house wheneveryone had left. Mr. Hunt then went over to him and patted him on the shoulder. “Come with me,Logan. I’ve got something to discuss with you.” Putting away the hostility emanating from him, Logandocilely followed Mr. Hunt into the room.

Lola was now at a complete loss as to what her father was trying to do. Frowning, she turned andstared at Mrs. Hunt. “Is Dad scheming something? Look at how suspicious he is. I just have a feelingthat he has a ploy of some sort.” However, Mrs. Hunt merely whirled around and went back to hercooking without saying a single word.

Logan and Mr. Hunt talked for a good while in the room. No one knew what they actually discussed, butthey both seemed to be in high spirits when they came out. Skulking over to Logan, Lola asked, “Whatdid the two of you talk about?”

Logan merely put a finger to his lips and made a shushing sound. “It’s a secret.” He acted allmysterious.

Lola’s gaze shifted between him and Mr. Hunt several times. At this time, Mrs. Hunt hollered, demanding that she come into the kitchen and help her cook. She obviously doesn’t want me to ask toomany questions. She just had a feeling that her parents must have discussed something while shewasn’t at home. The matter must have been somehow related to me, yet they don’t want me to knowwhat it is. This is rather worrying.

While Mr. Hunt was otherwise distracted, she pointed a finger at Logan. Lowering her voice, shewarned, “Watch out. Let me tell you, I’ll kill you if you dare do anything behind my back.”

Logan merely smiled without saying anything.

Nothing suspicious happened during lunch. Since they were going to visit Old Mrs. Hunt’s grave andburn incense paper later, everyone ate rather quickly, and there wasn’t much conversation at the tableeither.

When they’d finished eating, Mrs. Hunt took out a large bag from another room. In there were incensepaper and also hell banknotes.

Old Mrs. Hunt passed away a long time ago when the village hadn’t yet progressed to having acemetery or cremating the dead, so she was simply buried on the mountain. After so many years, hergrave was almost leveled, so Lola definitely wouldn’t be able to find it on her own. She’d thought thatit’d only be her and her father, but Logan unexpectedly came over and took the bag from her. “Let’sgo.”

Lola exclaimed in puzzlement, but Mr. Hunt then came out and said, “Let’s go.” It’s blatantly obviousthat they’ve discussed this! She sucked in a breath. But when did they do so?

They first took Logan’s car and drove until the foot of the mountain. The car definitely wouldn’t make itup the mountain, so they needed to go on foot. Lola was quite fit, so she didn’t need any help. Mr.Hunt, on the other hand, had to take a rest from time to time. Holding his arm with a hand, Logansupported him up the mountain.

Mr. Hunt searched for a good while before he finally found Old Mrs. Hunt’s grave. There was notombstone, merely a piece of wooden board with her name in black marker pen and nothing elsestaked on top of the dirt patch.

They then burned the incense paper and hell banknotes. Lola and her father knelt before the small dirtpatch. After deliberating for a moment, Logan also went to his knees beside Lola. When he did, Lola’sbrows furrowed. “You can wait for me at the side.” novelbin

However, Logan didn’t respond, merely kneeling there with his back ramrod straight, staring at thesimple grave marker. Mr. Hunt didn’t find it inappropriate for him to do so either. After prostratinghimself before the grave, he even started introducing Logan to Old Mrs. Hunt as he burned incensepaper.
