Chapter 1167

Lola was a little puzzled when she was out. After a quick search around with her eyes, she turned toLogan. “Who fired the tranquilizer gun?” From her previous experience as a police officer, she knewthat no one in the police squad would be assigned with a tranquilizer gun.

“Oh, that was me,” Logan mumbled and answered truthfully.

His answer not only startled her but also John and Sophia, who widened her eyes at him. “You broughta tranquilizer gun with you?”

Nodding solemnly, he said, “Yeah, I’ve used it a couple of times before when I went hunting with myfriends in the mountains. So I brought it in the car with me this time.” Without a doubt, he couldn’t stashguns and ammunition in private, but it was easy for him to lay his hands on something like a tranquilizergun.

Lola gave him a judging look but didn’t say anything, and he grinned. “What is it? Are you impressed?” novelbin

Instead of saying anything to rebuff him, she merely gave him a lopsided smile. “Not impressed, but Imust admit that I’m surprised.” Her words made him raise his brows, looking a little proud of himself.

Later, they would still need to have their testimonies taken in written records. When they got into thecar, Sophia asked Lola what actually happened to her. Leaning back into the seat, she told her whattranspired. Fortunately for her, she wasn’t a fan of sweet foods, and had only taken a small sip of thejuice.

“Nobody had dared to drug me until now,” Logan interjected in anger next to them. “That damn old man

had really pissed me off. Just wait and see how I’ll deal with him later.”

Sophia turned to him and asked him about the situation at Bailey Residence. Snorting, he replied,“Well, I flipped two tables and left after giving them a piece of my mind. The police were there as well,so things won’t be looking that good for them either.” Then, something else crossed his mind. “I thinkErnest really has no idea about any of this because he looked utterly dumbfounded.”

Subsequently, his train of thoughts led him to Old Mr. Bailey, and he realized how much he had aged.Looks like the death of his son was a really big blow to him, he thought. When he was shouting aroundin his fit of anger, Old Mr. Bailey didn’t show any reaction at all, and he couldn’t be sure if he wasignoring him completely or simply numbed from emotions.

Despite that, he felt that everything was handled very smoothly today, so smooth that he found itillogical. After they had their testimonies taken, it was already dark, and they all returned to theConstance Residence.

As soon as they entered the living room of the main building, John’s cell phone rang, and he saw that itwas Isabelle who was calling. Frowning, he recalled calling her earlier when Lola was in trouble, butshe didn’t pick up his call, and he wondered what ideas she was harboring with this call now.

When Sophia saw the caller ID, she said, “Pick up the call and hear what she has to say.” Hence, heanswered the call and heard Isabelle’s solemn voice on the other end. “John.”

John kept silent, and she continued, “Are you guys alright?”

“Yeah,” he mumbled. “We’re fine.”

Chuckling, she told him, “I’m at the airport now and will be boarding soon. So I’m calling to saygoodbye.”

Taken aback, he asked, “You’re at the airport?”

With a laugh, she revealed, “I left soon after you guys entered the private room. Also, I was the onewho arranged the four men who kidnapped Sophia today, John.”

Again, John was startled, and he pursed his lips tightly without a word this time.
