Chapter 1145

That only made Lola more uneasy, for bringing gifts or a simple visit wasn’t something a friend woulddo.

Lorraine was already waiting at the doorstep, and she welcomed Lola with even more gusto than theprevious time, scaring her. Actually, she knew Lorraine back when she arrested Logan over his cluboperations. She was always the one who bailed him out, though Lorraine didn’t remember her. WhenLola saw the other lady, she forced a smile and greeted her. “Hi.” novelbin

Lorraine held her hand and patted it. “Oh, you’re finally here! We’re all waiting for you.”

All the Jefferson ladies were already inside, and Logan’s father was wearing a red robe while sitting inthe center of the living room, looking solemn.

For some reason, Lola was reminded of Logan’s visit to her house. Her father told his tales loudly andkept drinking with Logan, which was totally different from the Jeffersons. Lola had gone to bigresidences during her days in the force, but she still felt nervous standing in the living hall of JeffersonResidence.

Lorraine dragged her to the sofa. Surprisingly, she was even more of a chatterbox than Logan was, andshe introduced her to her father and her sisters.

Apparently, Old Mr. Jefferson liked Lola. Well, as long as Logan got himself a girlfriend, he’d like themall the same.

The other ladies didn’t pester Lola about anything, for they didn’t want to scare her away, since it

wasn’t every day Logan could get a girlfriend. All they did was ask her about her job and whetherLogan was annoying her. “Tell us if he’s been pestering you. We’ll rip a new one on him.”

Logan sat beside Lola, looking delighted. “You guys are underestimating her. If I annoy her, she’d kickmy arse.”

“D*mn right she should.” Logan’s father pointed at him as he spoke. “I could have lived to two hundred, but this brat managed to cut it in half by annoying the crap out of me. Do you know how long I’vewaited for someone who can keep him in check to come along? Kick his arse whenever you can.” OldMr. Jefferson was quite funny, and Lola started losing a bit of the tension.

Lynett, the oldest of the sisters, looked at Lola. “We’ve been spoiling Logan all these years, and heturned out to be a brat. But since we’re getting busier, we don’t have time to teach him a lesson, so doit for us. You don’t have to feel nervous. Just do what you have to. We’ll support you for sure.”

Logan looked at Lola. “See? I told you I’m adopted. Even if I’m not, I bet I’m just here so my sisters canbeat the heck out of me.”

A smile appeared on Lola’s lips. Now, she thought the Jeffersons were different from the other richfamilies she came across; at least they were sincere and didn’t look down on her.

After a while, the servant came out of the kitchen and announced that dinner was ready.

The ladies quickly took Lola toward the dining room. “We don’t know what you like, so we did itaccording to our tastes. Tell us what your favorite food is, and we’ll make it the next time you’re here.”

Lola quickly replied, “I’m not picky, so everything’s fine by me.”
