Chapter 770

After lunch, since we were heading into the new year, Valerie and Nerissa spontaneously decided to have a barbecue together inthe yard in the afternoon.

We had plenty of food to go around, thanks to Hendrix and my grocery haul from the supermarket. When we were setting up the barbecue stand, Nerissa pulled me aside. "Leave this to the men and come with me. Let's talk!"

| got up and followed her to the backyard, a little stunned by her sudden invitation to talk. She definitely had something to say tome.

Fiona had planted some fruits in the backyard, but the soil had just been loosened, so there was nothing to see.

Nerissa sat on the swing in the pavilion and looked at me, "Are you planning to hold another wedding ceremony with Hendrix?"| shook my head in astonishment. "No!"

She pursed her lips. "Then he..." She trailed off, glancing at me.

She paused for a moment before decidedly asking, "Have you guys been taking pregnancy precautions lately?"

This topic...

My face immediately flushed with embarrassment, "No!"

She nodded gleefully. "That's good. You two should start planning for a second child. Anne's almost five. If you want one more, |can help take care of the child. Plus, it would definitely help with your relationship with the Moore Family."

| was silent for a moment, not knowing what to say.

Suddenly, she mentioned Irvin and looked at me as if she wanted to say something. "You should talk to Hendrix about theGranger Family. I've been married to Yohannes for a decade, so it's no surprise that | feel for the family. Hendrix's taking thingstoo far, and | really hope that you can talk to him about this."

| pursed my lips and said, "Aunt Nerissa, there are some things that | can talk about, and things that | can't. If | start mentioningthe Granger Group, things might take a turn for the worse for all we know."novelbin

She shot me a shocked look, then sighed. "This is all my fault!"

| owed Irvin, so | had no reason not to persuade Hendrix to take things down a notch, but | knew that | couldn't do that. If | askedhim about this, the nature of my request would sound different to him.

The two of them had been going head-to-head for years on the same levelled playing field. | did not understand how or whythings would change so abruptly. What could Irvin possibly say the other day to have triggered Hendrix into taking such drasticmeasures?

When | returned to the front yard, the barbeque had commenced. Hendrix handed me some barbecued chicken and vegetablesand said, "Try them, but you can't eat too much."

| nodded and smiled, "Did you barbecue them?"He nodded. "Try them!"

| found somewhere to sit and took a bite. Hendrix definitely knew his way around a barbecue pit; these were delicious! Thinkingof the hot pot we made this morning, | could not help saying, "I don't know if Aaron is there with Yana now. Aunt Nerissa cookeda lot of delicious food. Perhaps | should send some to her."

Valerie was a fantastic cook, so the stewed soup came out very nicely, and with Nerissa's help, the two of them made more thaneveryone could eat.

Hendrix nodded, "I'll get Evan to send it over
