Chapter 750

However, she was of age, and she had been living a comfortable life for many years. She was bound to suffer from backacheshaving stayed in the courtyard, bent over like this for a long time.

| saw her clutching her waist as she limped towards the bamboo chair in the courtyard. Her knitted brows are an indication ofhow much pain she was in.

| cleaned up the remaining weeds in the yard and washed my hands. Then, | gave her some medication that could relieve thepain.

She frowned, refusing to accept it.| pursed my lips. "It's not poison. It's a painkiller."After that, | put the medication in her hand, entered the house, poured her glass of warm water, and handed it to her.

She was dumbfounded. The pain had probably become unbearable as she instantly took the glass of water over and swallowedthe medication.

| put the rest of the medication aside and said softly, "The medication doesn't cause many side effects. If the pain is unbearable, you can take one or two to relieve the pain."

She looked at me with pursed lips. Her eyes fell on the yard, and she said, "You sound nasally. If you've got a cold, don't comehere and spread it to me.

| couldn't help but laugh at how stubborn she was. She obviously cared about me, but she just couldn't stop herself frommuttering unpleasant things.

Oh, well. She was a proud and arrogant lady.

She lived for so long and had no children of her own. She probably just wanted to spend the rest of her life in peace, enjoying therest of her golden years.

"Yes, I'll make sure to take some medication when | go back." Catching a cold during winter was nothing out of the ordinary.

She got up and went into the house. When she came out, she had a bag of herbs in her hands. "Take this back and have someonce in the morning and once at night. You'll recover in two days. It doesn't taste bitter."

| nodded, and accepted her bag of herbs. | said with a faint smile, "Thank you, Aunt Nerissa."She hummed in reply and did not say anything else.

It was no longer snowing in Jarold City. By the time the sun rose, most of the snow had melted. It wasn't as cold anymore withthe sun shining radiantly.

Moreover, Nerissa lit up a fire in the yard, so the air felt warmer than before.

At noon, she looked at me and asked, "Do you want to stay for lunch? It's been snowing for the past few days. I've only got somenon-perishables at home and nothing else."

| nodded, "Sure!"| was surprised that a fancy lady like her would ever settle for non-perishables. How fascinating!

The courtyard had a fire lit, so she brought over some potatoes and sweet potatoes for me to peel. Then, she sliced the meatand washed some vegetables.

We began barbequing in the yard. | initially thought a barbecue with two people would be too quiet. However, things changed when she brought the red wine from the wine cellar over.

Sometimes, being in silence with another was the best. Nerissa and | did not talk much; we shared the same notion that somethings were better left unsaid.
