Chapter 609

I was surprised. Back then, I was ready to divorce him even without the Moore Family.

Moments later, I said, "Even if I didn't go back, I still thought of divorce. It had nothing to do with the

Moore Family."

He smiled with a hint of self-mockery, "It wouldn't be easy to divorce me without the Moore Family

backing you up."

That's true. Not to mention that I was pregnant at the time.

He let out a sigh and a bitter smile. "I was too self-opinionated. So, it became like this."

"Why was Aaron involved in this?" I knew that Aaron was kind to me, but why wouldn't he let me go

back to the Moore Family?

He was silent for a moment and said, "Things in the Moore Family are too complicated. It's fine if you

guys managed to stay safe and sound. But if something had happened, everyone would be ruined. The

Moore Family has offended too many people these years. Without the protection of the Moore Family,

how could you live?"

That's why Aaron made use of Irvin's recommendation to get me to become Charles' stepdaughter. His

goal was if I got accepted into the Moore Family and anything happened to them, I would still have the

Reid family's and Hendrix's protection. Was that the reason? I thought.

They stumbled all the way, always thinking of a way to protect me. But everything happened by

accident, including the death of the child and Monique. There was no way to avoid it.

I sighed. Looking at the blue sky outside the window, my heart was empty. How long had it been? I was

so close to forgetting how I was in the past.

Four years could heal wounds. But was it really possible to reunite again?

It wouldn't be that easy.

Hendrix said, "Go back to Jarold City with me. I've been preparing our wedding for four years. I'm only

waiting for you to come back!"

His voice was deep and affectionate.

I didn't respond. I glanced down at my watch and felt that it was getting late. Thus, I withdrew from his

arms and said, "The school is over soon, I have to pick up Anne."

His black eyes became deep. He pursed his lips and nodded. "I'll go with you!"

I shook my head and pointed at his computer. "Your meeting is not over yet."

The meeting ended suddenly, and the higher-ups of Roberts Group must have already gone crazy by

Hendrix's sudden act.

He gave a faint smile. He didn't mind and said, "Let Evan drive you there!"

I wanted to refuse, but I kept my mouth shut. In the end, I couldn't resist him. So I simply accepted.

In the car, Evan looked like he had something he wanted to say to me. I frowned and looked out the

window. I knew deep down that what he wanted to say was probably to comfort me.

I sighed slightly. "Roberts Group is at its peak now. Do you have a child with your wife?"

I recalled him saying that he was married.

He paused and said, "Yes, he's already two years old."

"That's great!" I smiled. Everyone began to follow the path that they should take.

He looked at me while holding on to the steering wheel. He hesitated for a moment, but then he asked,

"It's been four years, Jarold City has changed a lot. Do you want to go back and have a look?"

Did I want to go back?

That would probably happen sooner or later.

I didn't say anything. He thought that I didn't want to go back, so he sighed slightly and said, "Mrs.

Roberts, when Anne falls down, who would be in more pain? You, or her?"
