Chapter 586

She sneered, "Homework? Who do you think you are? Do you think you deserve to have a background

check run on you?"

I took out my phone and dialed Charles' number. I casted a cold glare at Cecil. "Don't say I didn't warn

you. You're about to become the cause of your father's dismissal. I guess you could call this your

karma."

Her face twisted in confusion and then anger. Feeling the fire burning within her, she barked at the two

men, "Teach her a lesson!"

The call went through. Charles answered in a deep voice, "Arianna, what's the matter?"

I pursed my lips and said, "Uncle Charles, Dion Parker, the county executive of Hovell, oppressed the

civilians. He had also pocketed almost all of the poverty alleviation funds allocated to the county.

Please send someone to look into this!"

Charles agreed and asked, "Are you alright?"

"I'm okay. They won't dare lay a finger on me!"

He assented, "I'll come over tonight. Just protect yourself and leave the rest to me."

I nodded, said 'okay' in reply and hung up the phone.

Cecil paused for a few seconds. Then she sneered sarcastically, "Arianna, you're just a poor single

mother. Are you really pretending to be a rich lady in front of me?"

Looking at the two musclemen, she said, "Guys, drag her to the jungle and teach her a real good

lesson. It won't matter if she accidentally gets killed in the process. I'll take care of it."

The two men were still rational. They seemed a little hesitant. The two men seemed to have some

sense of rationality in them. They looked at me hesitantly and asked, "What's your full name?"

I raised my eyebrow. "Arianna Reid. Didn't Cecil tell you my name?”

Stunned, the two men looked at each other and said, "If not mistaken, there's a man called Charles

Reid in upper management. Uncle did meet him once when he went to the city for a meeting and said

that he was going to get promoted again."

Cecil's face was painted in disdain. "You two are thinking too much. She has been in Hovell for four

years. If she really knew someone up there, she wouldn't have been here for four years. I've never

even seen anyone coming to visit her and her daughter." "Ha!" A cold sneer rang out. His voice was

cold and sarcastic as he remarked, "Looks like you'd give up only at the sight of the gallows."

The comment came from Evan, who had just emerged from the hotel with Hendrix following beside

him. The man's gaze was deep and cold.

Startled, Cecil looked at Hendrix and Evan. She quickly greeted them, "Mr. Roberts, Evan!"

Hendrix did not even spare her a glance. His gaze fell on me and his eyes darkened slightly before he

asked, "Is your leg okay now?"

I nodded but did not say anything in reply.

Evan looked at the two men next to me. "If you know what's good for you, you'd better apologize now

and go home to look for a way out."

Evidently, the two men weren't dumb. When they saw how elegant and noble Hendrix was, they knew

that he was no ordinary person.

Surprise took them for a moment, before they started bowing to me and apologizing. "Miss Reid, we're

really sorry for offending you just now. Please don't mind us."

"Leave!" Evan ordered as he looked at two men, waving at them to go.

The two men did not say much. They looked at Cecil and uttered quickly, "Cecil, stop causing trouble.

Go home!"

With that, the two men turned on their heels and left.

"You..."

With a shove, I pushed her away and continued my walk into the hotel and then the office.
