Chapter 558

He furrowed his brows and looked at me seriously, "Who did you hear that from?"

"Nothing, I'm just asking!" To put it bluntly, I didn't want to pry much into his past. I just couldn’t help

asking as I had some doubts in my heart.

He held me in his arms. His black eyes looked a little deep, "Let's not bring up the past again, okay?"

I nodded. Afterwards, I got up and went into the bathroom.

Why did he always seem so reluctant about mentioning his and Josiah's past? He seemed to not care

about it, but at the same time, he seemed to care about it very much.

Coming out of the bathroom, I saw him on the phone at the balcony. His face looked a little grim. I

wasn't sure if it was because of work.

Seeing me come out, he said something into the phone and ended the call. Then, he walked towards

me and pulled me into his arms.

"I may not be able to go shopping with you later. I need to sign something back at the company. Will

you come with me?"

I shook my head, I'm not going out. I'll rest in the hotel. I might go back to Ucrebury tomorrow."

"What's the matter?" He asked indifferently.

"It's nothing!" I came to Mesville to meet him on a spur of the moment. Now that I had seen him and got

some good sleep, I had nothing to do, so it was best for me to return home.

He hugged me and advised me gently, "Don't run around alone in the future. This matter can't happen

twice, okay?"

I nodded and looked up at him, "When are you going to return home?"

"After I sign the contract tonight."

I nodded, my head feeling heavy. I was unsure why I felt this way. Hendrix frowned when he noticednovelbin

that there was something wrong with me, "What's wrong?"

I leaned on the bed and closed my eyes. I told him, I'm a little sleepy. I'm going to lie down for a while."

Hendrix had to leave for the company to sign the contract he mentioned, so he left after comforting me

for a short while while I continued to lay in bed.

I was still sleepy when the phone rang again. I awakened and answered the phone. It was Shirley, the

girl I met at the airport.

"Hi Arianna, it's Shirley. Remember me?"

I nodded and realized that she couldn't see me through the phone. After a pause, I answered, "Of

course I do. Hello, Miss Shirley!"

"Are you free now? Can I invite you to have dinner together? I don't have any friends in Mesville and

my fiance has gone to work again. I've been alone for a whole day. It's so boring!"

I looked out of the window. It was already dark and the clock on the wall indicated that it was eight at

night.

If I fell asleep now, I probably wouldn't be able to sleep until dawn. I might even wake up in the middle

of dawn.

After thinking for a moment, I agreed, "Okay, I'm at Clayde Hotel. What about you?"

As soon as she heard that I agreed, she beamed happily, "I'm at the winery. I'll come find you later.

When I reach the lobby, I'll call you on the phone."

After answering the phone, Hendrix whispered,

"Arianna!"

Listening to his voice from the other end of the phone, I was shocked, "Are you in a meeting?"

He answered, "I'm having a meeting to sign the contract. What's the matter?"

Fearing that I was disturbing him, I answered, "Oh, nothing. Go back to your meeting. I'll call you later!"

Just as I was about to hang up the phone, he said, "It doesn't matter. You talk and I'll listen to you. It's

okay."

"Sure!" He agreed. He paused for a moment and then asked, "Who are you going out with? What will

you be doing?"
