I pursed my lips and said, "I am alright."
We were back at the dining table where Hendrix kept bringing me food. He began to play with Annenovelbin
after taking a few bites.
Perhaps because I breastfeed, I ate a little more than usual. Hendrix was more than happy to see me
eating. I noticed that Valerie and Pedro seemed to be watching me the whole time.
Although I was curious, I could not ask while I was eating. I stopped after everyone finished eating.
"What's wrong?" Hendrix asked as he put a piece of meat onto my plate. He asked with a smile, "Are
you full?"
I nodded, "Yes!"
"The plum trees blossoming in the Pearis Manor are the most beautiful at this time. Why don't you take
a look?" Valerie suggested while looking at Anne.
Little Anne had fallen asleep. Valerie instructed a nanny, "Please take care of the little one later."
“That won’t be necessary. Valerie and Pedro, thank you for your hospitality. It's almost time for us to go
back," Valerie and Pedro still did not say anything despite eating and drinking the whole evening.
I felt strange as though I was only here for a meal with them.
Pedro had a pair of pitch-black eyes. He smiled at Hendrix and asked, "Mr. Roberts, one of Moore' s
companies ran into some problems. It happened that we have a bit of time today. Shall we discuss it?"
Hendrix looked at me and pursed his lips. He said "Go and take a walk. I'll take care of Anne. We will
go home shortly."
I nodded while looking at Pedro. Then, I turned to Hendrix and asked, "Is it appropriate to discuss while
looking after Anne?"
"It's okay, just go ahead."
I felt that Hendrix intended to make me spend more time with Valerie and Pedro.
I got annoyed thinking about it.
Pearis Manor had a very large courtyard. The plum trees had bloomed beautifully, as Valerie said
earlier.
"Arianna, the kitchen staff has made some matcha flavored pastries for you to bring home later," said
Valerie as she was walking behind me, hoping eagerly for my positive reply.
I was not used to her behaving like this. I pursed my lips slightly, rejecting her offer. "Thank you,
Valerie. Desserts are rather fattening. I only eat desserts occasionally."
She looked at me and asked carefully, "Arianna, are you still mad at me?”
I frowned because I was really annoyed with her question, "Valerie, if you have anything to say, you
can say it directly. You don't have to do this!"
She quickly shook her head and explained, "I don't have any hidden agendas. I regretted doing those
things to you. I feel guilty now. I just want to make it up to you."
"That's not necessary. A lot of things have happened after all. It is best that we don’t interact in the
future," I replied. I walked faster than usual, as I did not want to say anymore.
She hurried up and explained earnestly, "I know you can't forgive us. I just want to make it up to you,
Arianna. Please let us make it up to you?
"Mother, what are you doing?" It was Andrea who had followed us. She pointed at me angrily and
asked Valerie, "Mother, why do you want to make up for her? Had we not suffered enough already?"
Andrea pushed me as she was talking to Valerie. I was standing next to a swimming pool which is not
being used due to winter.
But the pool was not deep.
I didn't expect Andrea to attack me. I was unprepared and fell into the water.
The pool was not deep, but the water in it was extremely cold. I felt a bone- chilling coldness invading
my body. I was freezing, my body trembled from the cold.
Valerie panicked as she saw me falling into the water. She shouted, "Help! Somebody help!”
