Chapter 496

Too many things had happened that day. I went to the study room and read the headlines on the

Internet. As expected, all the clips featuring Valerie that were shown at the hotel tonight had been

disseminated.

To my surprise, the Moore Family, who obviously had the ability to keep this matter suppressed, didn't

seem to bother interfering with it - just as Austin had mentioned.

Even Valerie didn't make any moves, as if she intended to tolerate my actions.

Initially, I wanted to call Ian but felt that it was getting late, so I gave up on the idea.

I sat in the study room for a while, and when I returned to the bedroom, Hendrix hadn't come out of the

bathroom yet.

Hendrix's bath usually took ten minutes or so. I had been in the study room for quite a while, so he

should have been out already.

Concerned that something might have happened to him, I quickly made my way towards the bathroom

door. I raised my hand and knocked. "Hendrix, are you there?" I asked.

No one responded.

Anxiety kicked in as I stretched my hand out to twist the doorknob. I had thought that the door would be

locked from the inside, but to my surprise, I was able to open it.

I cracked the door open, and the bathroom was filled with hot and humid air. I called out to him,

"Hendrix..."

As soon as I finished speaking, that man's strong underbelly suddenly appeared. I looked up

subconsciously and saw his sexy abdominal muscles.

Seeing him withdrawing his hand, it seemed that he also came forward to open the door.

I was startled and embarrassed. "Have you finished bathing?"

He mumbled, "Yes." Perhaps it was because he had just taken a shower; he looked extraordinarily

handsome with his hair damp and warm shower mist enveloping his body.

I dodged away from him as he got out of the bathroom. The lower part of his body was wrapped in a

bath towel as he dried the water from his hair.

Even when he was ill, he still carried himself so freely and with so much ease.

What a pro!

Since I had a lot of makeup on today, I entered the bathroom to remove them and to take a bath.

There was a washing machine in the bathroom, and I threw my clothes in. As Hendrix's suit was of

high- end material, it must be sent to the dry-cleaners.

Well, I couldn't be bothered. A blue item in the laundry basket then caught my eye. It was the briefs that

he had taken off just now.

I picked it up and washed it in the sink. He would usually wash most of his undergarments. Since his

other clothes were custom- made, they were sent to the dry-cleaners. Occasionally, some were tossed

into the washing machine.

I thought about how even after being married for three years, I never helped him wash his clothes. I

also thought about how apart from matters related to Andrea, he seemed to listen to me and did what Inovelbin

wanted him to all the time.

As my mind wandered off, he opened the bathroom door and saw his blue briefs in my hand. Hesitation

appeared on his handsome face before he said, "It's torn!"

I was dumbfounded and looked down subconsciously. When I saw that it was still in good condition, my

cheeks started burning. "I'm just washing it!"

He curled his lips as he looked at me with his dark and obscure eyes without saying much. He then

entered the bathroom to get his watch from the cabinet which he had taken off just now.

He glanced dispassionately at the clothes in my hands. Then, he pursed his lips and went out.

I didn't know how to react or what to say to this.

We were husband and wife, but why did this feel so very...awkward?

I dried his briefs, and when I came out of the bathroom, Josiah had already arrived. Hendrix was sitting

on his chair, face calm as he let Josiah examine his body.

Josiah specialized in the medicinal field, and he liked to diagnose patients with the two-pronged

method.

Seeing me come out of the bathroom, he withdrew his hand and took out some medicine from the

medical kit. He ordered, "Take this if you don't want to die. She's back, so stop...playing dead!"

The following sentence was suppressed by Hendrix's cold eyes.

Josiah harrumphed and packed up his medical kit. I followed him down the stairs to send him off.

I had been keeping the truth to myself. I just didn't know how to break it to him.

He walked to the door and saw me following him.

He looked back at me and raised his eyebrows. "Is there anything else?"
