Chapter 475

The nurse who was changing the IV fluid finally went out. I looked on as she left, and then I raised my

head to face Hendrix. "Stop being so cold and distant with me. If you're like that, I'll think you don't care

about me!"

He walked over to me and carefully examined my bandaged wound. He sighed, "Please be more alert

when you're walking. Fortunately, these are just minor injuries. If it were more serious, I might be

looking at your corpse right now.

I was speechless.

This man's thoughts were dark and scary.novelbin

Seeing that there were a few desserts next to my bag, he asked, "Were you hit while you were out

buying things?"

I nodded, looked at him, and chuckled, "Why don't you try them? They're delicious. I've had them

before and they're really good. So, I specially visit the store today and bought some!"

He frowned. He wasn't really interested in desserts. "Would you like to have some?"

I raised my eyebrows, took a glimpse at my dumpling looking hand and asked back, "Do you think I can

eat any now?"

He put on a charming smile and teased, "If you show that you're sincere enough, I might just consider

feeding you."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

As he spoke, his beautiful, deep gaze was focused on me. The meaning behind his eyes and words

were self-explanatory.

I was stunned for a moment, but I immediately understood what he meant.

Seeing him and his cheek inching closer to me, I was not feeling stingy either. I kissed him generously

on his handsome face and asked with a smile, "Is this good enough?"

He furrowed his brows, and the corners of his mouth curled up. "I'll reluctantly accept this!"

After eating a few mouthfuls of dessert, I stared at Hendrix's handsome face and hesitated for a

moment before saying, "Hendrix, do you think a dead person can come back to life?"

On the day of Irvin's accident, I saw him lying in a pool of blood, breathless and lifeless. So, how could

this...

He turned to me and his beautiful eyebrows slightly twitched. "What happened? Why are you suddenly

asking this?"

"Uh!" I let out an awkward smile and changed the subject. "Just curious."

Honestly, I was just a little scratched up from the accident, and it wasn't like I could fully rest being in

the hospital. Thus, after staying for a few hours, I begged Hendrix to take me back to the villa.

As he guided me back to our bedroom, he went to the study and informed me that he had something to

deal with.

I was wrecking my mind over what had happened to Irvin. My mind was flooded with the image of the

man I saw in the city center.

After lying down in bed for a long while, I took my phone out and dialed for Aaron.

After picking up the phone, Aaron greeted me, exhaustion evident in his voice, "It's been five hours.

Just give it to me straight. Why didn't you come for the appointment?"

As soon as he mentioned that, I remembered our gown appointment.

I immediately apologized. "I'm sorry! I forgot to let you know that I was hit by a car on the way there. I

just came back from the hospital."

He asked back in surprise, "Hit by a car? What happened?"

I didn't really want to explain what happened in detail, so I just went straight to the point about what I

wanted to know. "Aaron, can you find out who dealt with Irvin's body?"

He clicked his tongue and asked me curiously, "He's already turned into dust. Is there a problem? Did

you later realize that you're in love with him?"

I was speechless and retorted unpleasantly, "What kind of nonsense are you spouting? I saw someone

who looks exactly like Irvin today. The resemblance was so uncanny that it could very well be the same

person."

"So, that's why you got hurt? Because you were in a hurry to chase after him?" The voice on the other

end sounded a little hostile. "Arianna, he's dead. Do you actually believe that someone can come back

from the dead? Unless he faked his death...once he's gone, then he can't come back to life. Stop

making things hard for yourself. Just get ready to attend the banquet with peace of mind."

I pursed my lips and wanted to say more, but I thought he might feel that I was overthinking.

After a pause, I regulated myself and casually chatted with him for a while before ending the call.

As soon as I hung up the phone, I saw Hendrix standing at the door, his face dark and his presence

cold.

"You're done with work?" I asked and put the phone aside.

His gaze fell on me. It was so intense that I couldn't tell just what he was thinking about.
