Chapter 407

It wasn't my fault for overthinking. In a situation like this, it was rather worrisome that he didn't lose his

mind, didn't feel heartbroken, and acted as if nothing had happened.

He concealed his emotions so well that it felt like he was pretending that Helen was still alive, and that

life was still the same as it always was.

After the pasta was done, I was about to turn around to call him over, but I surprisingly saw him resting

on the doorframe with his hands crossed in front of his chest. His face was cold.

I broke out in a cold sweat and asked, "Irvin, what's wrong?"

He looked away and asked emotionlessly, "Is the pasta ready?"

I nodded, fear lingering in my heart. I placed the plates of pasta on the dining table.

As I watched him eat, I could not help but ask, "Irvin, are you alright?"

He stopped to look at me. His eyes were cold and indifferent as he asked, "What?"

I shook my head. I felt that he had suddenly grown distant and cold. "Eat. The pasta won't taste as

good cold."novelbin

He narrowed his eyes and looked at me. "Aren't you hungry?"

I chuckled and shook my head. "I'm not. Eat more."

He pursed his lips and said no more.

Watching him eat, I couldn't help but feel like my pasta didn't taste that great. The way he chewed at

them made it look like he was only eating to fill his stomach up.

After he finished, he sat on the sofa and stared at the black TV screen. His gaze was deep and icy.

Seeing him like this reminded me of when Aaron had learnt of his father's passing. His eyes too, were

like a bottomless pit of darkness that was as cold as they were deep.

After I washed up the utensils and put the bowl away, I sat beside him and tried to start a conversation

with him. "Irvin, life is but a series of moving-on. She did hope for you to have a good life."

He narrowed his eyes slightly, looked at me, and said in a harsh whisper. "Are you comforting me?"

I frowned. For a moment, I couldn't say anything.

After a pause, I said, "It's getting late and you should rest. I'll come over tomorrow with breakfast. Stay

home for the time being. You can set your work aside for now."

I didn't know how to comfort him, so I could only state the obvious.

He raised his eyebrows, his eyes were a little cold when he asked, "Aren't you going to stay?"

I was caught off guard by that and instinctively shook my head.

I then took my coat and left.

When I returned to the villa, it was already dawn.

Before the car entered the garage, I saw a man standing by the door. He was tall and slender,

handsome even. Under the dim streetlights, his face, which looked a little fatigued, had a displeased

look on it.

After parking the car, I stood by the door as it began to drizzle.

His face dark when he asked, "Do you intend to stand out here for the rest of your life?"

As he walked down the steps, the rain fell on his shoulders, making him look colder and more

unapproachable.

I pursed my lips and thought for a moment. "Didn't you say you would come home late?" I had thought

that he wouldn't even be coming home tonight from what he told me. After all, Ucrebury and Jarold City

were miles apart. It would've easily taken him half a day to travel to and fro.

He sneered. "Isn't this late already?"

I...

It was dawn. Yes, I guess it was rather late.

He didn't press anymore and pulled me into the villa. He looked at me and asked, "Where were you?"

"Central Park Residence!" I didn't intend to hide anything from him. What happened today was a huge

deal, and I even came home late because of it. Even if I kept mum about it now, he would definitely

learn about this himself the next day.

He narrowed his eyes and asked coldly, "Why don't you move over there for a few days? So you

wouldn't have to keep running back and forth."

I nodded. "Yes, I too have thought of this."

"Arianna!" He gnashed his teeth in anger. "Who exactly is your husband?"

I pursed my lips and stated helplessly, "You're the one who's suggesting that I move out, so why are

you angry?"
