Chapter 391

He raised his eyebrows. "What's wrong? All I said was the truth."

Astonished, I replied, "Don't you always hate being gossiped about?" In the Roberts Group building, he

had his own private elevator, so he could easily avoid conversations with people. So, how could he

suddenly be so talkative now after getting into an elevator with me?

And to think that he was even being friendly with others.

With a faint smile, he held me in his arms out of habit and said, "You are my wife. What others say is a

fact and not petty gossip."

Pulling myself away from him, I dragged him to the sofa and looked at him. I said, "You can't just pull

me in for a hug anytime you feel like it. This is an office. I have to work, okay?"

He laughed. "Am I a child?"

Uh! No.

"Anyway, you can't distract me from work, alright?"

He nodded, and grabbed a magazine to read. Seeing that he had made himself comfortable, I turned

on the computer and looked through the pile of documents on the table.

I'm only responsible for one project, so I didn't have that much to do. Moreover, Irvin was also handling

this project with me, so work was a sort of walk in the park.

After I was done examining the documents, I looked up and saw Hendrix staring at me, resting his chin

on his hand.

I didn't expect him to be staring at me. I pursed my lips and asked, "Why are you staring at me?"

He raised his eyebrows. "Women who are so focused on their work are absolutely beautiful!"

I...

This man...

Time passed by very quickly. Before I knew it, it was almost noon, and I was already thinking about

lunch.

However, Hendrix's cell phone rang. He answered it and frowned slightly as if something bad had

happened. According to him, there was a problem with Josiah.

After hanging up the phone, he approached me and said, "I may not be able to accompany you for

lunch. Something went wrong with the project Josiah is overseeing. I have to go and check."

I nodded. "Yes, go see what's up!"

I did feel sort of uneasy with him around.

He was amused and asked, "You really want me to leave, huh?"

Umm...

Was I making it too obvious?

Smiling at him, I said, "No, you're just busy!"

He touched the tip of my nose. "Remember to eat later. See you in the evening."

"Alright!"

Looking at his broad shoulders, I couldn't help thinking about what Kelsey mentioned before. I added, novelbin

"Hendrix, take care!"

He looked back at me and smiled. "Okay!"

Soon after Hendrix left, I received a call from Andrea.

She sounded much calmer over the phone as she said in a low and quiet voice, "Arianna, can we meet

up?"

I didn't want to see her, so I immediately refused. "Andrea, there's nothing to talk about between us."

After a moment of silence, she asked, "Even if it's about Hendrix?"

I frowned and replied irritably, "What is there to talk about?" "I'm near the Granger Group's building.

Let's find a place to talk."

"Fine!"

Andrea who was wearing a long, white dress stood outside the building waiting for me. She seemed to

have lost a lot of weight after giving birth. Her chin looked pointed and her face was a little gaunt.

She folded her arms as she leaned against a white Maserati. She raised her eyebrows at me and said,

"Let's go!"

I nodded and got in the car.

"You seem to be doing quite well without Hendrix." I said, without intending to ridicule her in any way.

The Moore family had been taking care of her needs. So naturally, they would give her the best of

everything.

She frowned and looked grim. "Whether I'm doing well or not, it has nothing to do with you, or with me

leaving him."

From her tone, she sounded to be in a bad mood.
