Chapter 381

After the nurse left, he looked at me and asked grumpily, "Where is the medication?"

I pursed my lips and quietly answered, "I'll do it myself. You should sleep."

He got up, totally ignoring me. He found the medication on the bedside table, and started squeezing

the ointment onto his fingers.

Knowing that he was going to try and help apply it on me, I turned away and said once more, "I can do

it myself."

But he had already pressed his palm on my neck. All I could do now was to tighten my lips and let him

do what he wanted. It stung a little as he rubbed the ointment on me.

I frowned, moving in my seat a little.

"Does it hurt?" He asked quietly, and blew gently on my neck to relieve some of the pain for me.

"Nope!" I did this to myself, how could I complain?

"Try not to be so impulsive. Whatever you do, you have to know how to protect yourself."

I nodded and closed my eyes, not wanting to say anything.

After applying the ointment to me, he asked, "Does it hurt anywhere else?"

I shook my head and replied, "No."

Suddenly, my shirt was lifted, exposing the area on my stomach that had been kicked by Calvin earlier.

My skin was like a canvas that had been painted with large bruises.

He looked at me, gritting his teeth as he asked, "It doesn't hurt?"

Seeing him like this, I didn't say anything because I felt that it was unnecessary for me to talk too much.

He squeezed more ointment out of the tube, looking as angry as ever as he checked other parts of my

body for bruises. When he found that there were none, he wiped the remaining ointment off his fingernovelbin

and put the tube away. He then tucked me in before saying to me, "Rest well!"

I nodded and said, "Thanks!"

He narrowed his eyes and asked, "What are we?"

I tightened my lips. "Humans?"

Hendrix was rendered speechless by my response.

Seeing his reaction, I finally said, "We are husband and wife!"

"And do husband and wife need to thank each other?" He looked at me coldly.

I stayed silent, not wanting to respond to that.

After resting for a few days, just as Aaron had said previously, Calvin was sentenced to death for his

involvement in a murder.

Although Arnold was an accomplice in the cover-up, his crime was dismissed since too many people

were involved.

Hence, Charles had sent someone to run a more thorough investigation in Ucrebury, after he and

Arnold got in contact with him.

After that, Arnold was brought to Jarold City while Irvin had already returned much earlier to handle

company matters.

Once Hendrix finished dealing with the matter with Roberts Group, he returned to Jarold City with me.

It was a week later when I learned that Andrea lost her baby, and had gone a little deranged.

Since we have reached an agreement on Fantasia Company, I took care of the subsequent layout

work.

Therefore, I was extremely busy the week I returned from Ucrebury.

I was at the hospital when I bumped into Valerie and Andrea. Valerie was in the midst of walking

Andrea to get a check- up. The latter looked like she had indeed lost a lot of weight.

We ran into each other in the narrow corridor.

Thanks to Calvin's kick, we learned through a medical examination that there may be some damage

done to my uterus. Thus, Hendrix had brought me to the hospital for a checkup.

"Hendrix, you finally came to see me!" Upon seeing Hendrix, Andrea's tears started streaming down

her face as she made a run into Hendrix's arms.

However, as she was weak, she accidentally fell butt-first before she could reach Hendrix. When she

was on the floor, she began pulling at Hendrix's trousers as she told him, "Hendrix, the baby is gone.

Before Casper left, he told me that as long as I was with you, I would find my happiness. But you

abandoned me, and I lost the baby. I can't seem to be happy anymore."

When Casper was mentioned, Hendrix frowned and bent down to help her up. "The future's not written

in stone. Don't worry too much and just take good care of yourself."

The indifference and lack of emotion in his

voice was too clear to miss.
