Chapter 369

Irvin called to ask when I would be leaving.

I thought for a moment and said, "Maybe after two or three days. I'll wait till things with Fantasia are

settled. The rest will fall into place later."

He paused for a moment and said, "Are you going to the countryside to visit Monique?"

I was surprised that he knew but then I remembered that I may have mentioned it to him before.

The other end of the line fell silent again before he finally spoke, "Have you contacted her?"

I shook my head and said, "No, I haven't been able to get through to her. Ian has been answering all

the calls I made so I'm going there to have a look."

"I'll go with you!" Irvin wasn't asking to go with me but stating that he'd go with me.

I couldn't help but to refuse. "No. Ian will be there. Everything will be fine."

"Arianna!" He spoke in a low voice, "Give Ian a call first so that your trip down would not be in vain."

I paused. "How did you know that the trip would be in vain? I haven't contacted Ian, but it should be

fine. The last time I spoke to Ian, he said that he would stay with Monique and take care of her."

"Don't rush things. If they headed back to Ucrebury or have gone to other cities, you'll know where to

find them if you give them a call, won't you?"

I could only nod my head in agreement as what Irvin said was right. "Fine. Sure."novelbin

I heard the sound of the engine coming from the front yard, I paused and said on the phone, "I've got to

go. I'll hang up first!"

As soon as I hung up the phone, Hendrix walked in. Seeing the packed breakfast in front of me, he

could not help but to frown. "Who are you going to give that to?"

I paused for a moment and said, "No one. I plan to head out so I asked the caretaker to pack it."

He frowned. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to look for Monique and Ian." I placed the packed breakfast in a bag feeling that it may look a

little excessive to give him such an excuse.

I could have eaten at home before heading out. But since I blurted out the lie, there was no going back

now.

Hendrix stopped me and said, "Wait for me. I'll get something from the study room and come with you."

"There's no need..."

"Wait for me."

I...

He really left me no room to refuse him.

He hurried upstairs to take what he wanted while I called Ian.

The phone rang for a long time before he picked it up. "Arianna."

"Ian, send me your address. I'll come over in a short while to visit you both." If they were really in the

countryside, it would be best to drive a car there.

Ian was stunned. "You're back in Ucrebury?"

"Yes," I said, "I've come back for a project. I haven't seen you in a long time so I wanted to visit you."

"I... I'm not in Ucrebury at the moment with Monique. I came to Mesville with her and the baby a few

days ago. When the time is right, I'll head to Jarold City with her to find you," Ian said, sounding a little

nervous.

I couldn't help but to frown, "Why didn't you tell me? The child is only a few months old.

It's not good for you to take him around like this."

"It's okay. The baby is now three months old. We'll be back by the end of the year. Then, we'll head to

Jarold City to find you!" There was some noise in the background. Ian seemed to be busy.

He gave me an excuse saying he was busy and hung up the phone hastily.

Sitting on the couch, I can't help but to feel a little empty. I could feel that Ian had been keeping me at

arm's length lately.

"What are you thinking about?" Hendrix came downstairs with a file in his hand.
