Chapter 358
I paused, and I took out my phone to call the emergency services. As the call got through, I said, "Hi,
I'm here to file a report on domestic violence. The situation is out of hand."
I informed the dispatcher of the address and hung up. Calvin looked viciously mad and angry. He also
seemed to be feeling a little agitated, "Why are you interfering? This is none of your business. You think
I won't hit you?"
He was not acting like a sane person at all.
I looked at Kelsey and saw that she was calm and no longer terrified. She looked as if she was used tonovelbin
seeing Calvin acting in such erratic ways.
I walked to her and reached out. "It's been a long time. Should I send you to the hospital?"
She cast an apprehensive glance at Calvin then shook her head timidly. She looked at me and said
with a smile, "No, I'm fine. Thank you."
Calvin sneered and tucked his hands into his pocket. He looked casual and relaxed. Not an ounce of
fear was written on his face over the fact that I've just reported him to the police.
It didn't take long for the police to arrive. Learning about the situation, they arrested Calvin.
I instructed Irvin to ask for the surveillance video from the restaurant's owner for evidence purposes.
Kelsey was also going to be taken in for a written statement. Since I lodged the report, I wasn't able to
leave as well.
After everything was settled with the police, it was already one in the afternoon. Looking at the time, I
knew that I wouldn't have time to rest before the meeting.
Calvin was detained under the intention of inflicting harm on another person.
Kelsey kept silent all the time. I didn't know what to ask to begin with.
I was worried to leave her just like that. I walked towards her and said, "I don't know what you've been
through but here's my number. If there's anything that you need, anything at all, please give me a call.
I'll try my best to help you no matter what."
We had been through thick and thin together for two years. I wouldn't feel at ease to leave her just like
that.
Kelsey was stunned and looked at me with a pair of eyes full of weariness and tainted with the hard
edges of life. She burst into tears. "Director Reid, I... I'm sorry!"
I sighed, "It's fine. It's over. Call me if you need anything."
I changed my number half a year ago so I gave her my new number.
I hailed a cab for Kelsey and sent her off.
Irvin looked at me and pursed his lips. "I'm guessing that she'll call you soon."
I pursed my lips as well. "She wasn't like this before." How can marriage utterly change and break her
in such a way?
As time was running out, Irvin and I rushed to Fantasia Company. When we arrived at their lobby,
Sherman Hathaway, the company's CEO, was there waiting for us.
Upon seeing us, he greeted us with a smile. "You must've had a long journey. Have you had lunch?"
Irvin nodded and made some small talk with him along the way to the meeting room.
Most of the executives of Fantasia Company were already seated in the meeting room. Irvin looked at
me and said, "Brief about our purpose. Let them know under what circumstances we can fulfil their
requirements, then the rest should be in order."
I nodded. These were all of the things that we've prepared in advance.
Fantasia Company didn't have many shareholders. They only had six in total. The major shareholder of
the company was Sherman. He was in his forties and was an expert in technology.
He poured his heart and soul into R&D for its company products. Fantasia Company was established
by him. As his expertise wasn't on the management of the company, he placed all of his focus on R&D
which was why Fantasia Company could always produce top notch products.
However, because of their poor management, Fantasia Company had been on the losing end most of
the time. Most of the investors valued the management of the company so they gave the company the
financing it needed, and in return, was involved with the management of the company.
