Chapter 354

"Revenge for my mother's murder on your child..." Andrea slipped as she got agitated.

Valerie's face turned cold. She called out to stop Andrea, "Andrea Burton!!"

Nerissa was not stupid either. She eyed Valerie in a daze, narrowed her eyes a little and didn't speak

anymore.

Valerie was indeed a cunning lady. She looked at me and said, "Miss Reid, where did you even hear

this sort of rumor? If you have your suspicions about the baby, you can wait till the baby is born to

perform the DNA test, no? Must it have to be now, at this time?"

Speaking of which, she turned to look at Nerissa and said, "But let me be clear. If we really conductednovelbin

a DNA test, no matter what the result, the Roberts must not receive a dime, nor have any relation with

the child even if it really belongs to Hendrix. After all, Andrea and Hendrix have no reason to stay in

touch or be in a relationship. The Moore family will just raise the child. Our family has the resources to

do so."

Huh! Her words just didn't make any sense.

Nerissa frowned slightly. She looked a little disgruntled. She felt like retorting but at the same time she

looked as if she couldn't find the right words to say.

Instead, she simply smiled and replied, "Well, since this is about a child, I feel like we should also listen

to what Hendrix has to say about it. I'm just his aunt and I don't have the rights to make this sort of

decision. Furthermore, Hendrix is also a family man. I believe that he would know the best decision

when the time comes."

Sure enough, Aunt Nerissa was indeed smart and wise. She had thrown the ball of decision making to

Hendrix, leaving him to fill in the hole. That way, she will neither offend Valarie nor Hendrix himself.

Valerie's face turned gloomy. Tugging on Andrea, she then left with her. Aunt Nerissa, on the other

hand, turned to look at me with a heavy, questioning gaze that was unreadable to me.

However, it didn't matter to me. After all, life was always changing. Unexpected things would always

come along the way. That made life ever more intriguing.

It was six o'clock.

Hendrix's call came through the phone. I picked it up and said casually, "What's wrong?"

"Still at work?" His voice sounded casual and light. I couldn't guess what he was feeling or thinking on

the other end.

Deciding not to guess anymore, I just gave him a short reply. I lifted my head to glance at the clock and

saw that it was indeed time to get off work as it was already six in the evening.

"I think I'll work overtime today. What's the matter?" I needed to head to Ucrebury the next day so I

figured that I would need to take a look at some of the documents again to avoid missing out on any

important information.

I arranged the documents and placed them on the table. I grabbed a pen and wrote down a checklist of

things to bring along the trip. Realizing that there isn't any sound coming from my phone, I figured that

he had hung up.

Tapping on the phone, I saw that he was still on the line. I continued again, "I may be late today..."

Before I could finish my sentence, a burly, well-built man was standing in the doorway. I was stunned a

little by his presence. "Didn't anybody stop you from coming up?"

He raised his eyebrows and hung up the phone. Striding towards my desk, he said, "Now is the time

where people get off work. It's a given that I can come up here to pick you up."

A given?

I was still contemplating about following him when he glanced at the work in my hand and told me to

resume after dinner.

Well, there originally wasn't much to do to begin with. I planned to continue after dinner but now, it

didn't seem necessary.

Packing up my things, he stood up and said, "You can do it when you're home later. Let's go!"

There were many eyes within the company. I was pretty sure many pairs of eyes had recognized

Hendrix, and I knew that they would make assumptions just by seeing him.

Sure enough, as Hendrix and I walked out of the office, many people started whispering as they

glanced at us.

"Isn't he the president of the Roberts Group? I saw in some headlines months ago that he'll be moving

the Roberts Group's headquarters to Jarold City for future development."

"Yeah, I saw it too. He is much more handsome in real life than on TV!" "Well, he's someone

untouchable. But why is he with Director Reid?"

"I heard that he's here to pick up Director Reid to go home!"

"Didn't he got engaged to Andrea Burton two months ago? Why is he together with Director Reid

again?"
