Chapter 1616

Soon, the news that I became the representative of the Granger Group spread via the mediathroughout the city in no time.

I thought GW Group would come to me, but Hendrix was the first to appear.

At ten o'clock in the morning, he, who was supposed to deal with the affairs in the company, suddenly returned home and directly crashed the door of the study open.

At that time, I was having a meeting with the shareholders of Granger Group on my computer. When the door opened, I turned my head and glanced at him. Then, as if nothing had happened, Icontinued my meeting on the computer. "Let's proceed."

However, Hendrix obviously could not stand being ignored. He strode over and turned off thecomputer screen.

I lowered my gaze and was silent for a long time before I raised my head and looked at him coldly."What are you doing?"

"I should be the one asking this." Hendrix's attitude was not much better than mine. "Do you knowthat you're pregnant now? Why did you promise to take

over Irvin's affairs?"

The more he spoke, the more agitated he became. He paused and placed his hands on his hips, seeming perturbed. "Did Irvin come to see you again? You guys have met again, haven't you? Whatdid he tell you? Speak!"

That was not the first time I had to face Hendrix's rage. I gritted my teeth and tried not to show mycowardice. "This has nothing to do with Irvin. I was the one who took the initiative to look for him. If Iowe him something, I have to return it. This is the rule."

I dared not look at him for fear of being seen through by him.

"Bullsh*t!" It was scarce for Hendrix to be so rude. He anxiously paced back and forth in the roomand said, "We made a deal. Roberts Group will help him if you don't interfere in his affairs. Now thatyou have everything on you, what do you want? Do you want to force me to compromise?"

I snorted and thought that it was too ironic. He pushed Irvin further into the fire pit when Irvin savedme, his wife. I merely took Irvin's place and stood on the opposite side of Roberts Group. How couldhe be so irritated?

I didn't want to criticize businessmen's tactics, nor did I want to force Hendrix into accepting myperspective of morals. But no matter what, I couldn't stand by and watch Granger Groupexperiencing a downfall.

"I said that I wouldn't meet Irvin before giving birth. I didn't go back on my words. We talked aboutthe handover over the phone, so strictly speaking, I didn't go against our promise. Besides, I stayedat home, so you don't have to worry about me. Are you not satisfied?" Hendrix taught me to arguewith others. Even if he had any objection, he should be angry with himself.

"Arianna..."novelbin

I could sense Hendrix gnashing his teeth. I knew how scary he could be when he was enraged, butI had to pretend to be calm and uttered, "The announcement has been issued. Everyone knows thatI'm Irvin's representative, and it's too late to turn back. Now our identities are special, so foreveryone's sake, we'd better not get in touch during this period of time."

I turned around and scrutinized Hendrix with a cold expression. "I've asked Madam Parker to cleanup a room in the backyard. I'll invite a professional lawyer to stay over. Before the acquisition caseis completed, I'll avoid you."

As soon as I finished speaking, Hendrix's face completely darkened. He was silent for nearly aminute before he voiced out.

"Do you have to do this?" His tone was icy and terrifying.

I withdrew my gaze and put my hands on the table with my head lowered. "I used to work inGranger Group, and I'll get the hang of this easily. Don't worry. I know that I'll be tired. But I'msatisfied that I can help Irvin in my own way. Even if I'm exhausted to the point of accidentally fallingasleep, at least I'm more at ease than before."

These were all words from the bottom of my heart.
