Chapter 1607

I was annoyed as I hung up the phone and directly threw it aside. At the corner of my eyes, I sawlight seeping in through the window, so I walked over and drew the curtains open.

I walked to the window, looked down, and realized that the number of bodyguards around the villahad doubled. Almost every entrance was guarded. It wasn't an exaggeration at all to say that it waslike an airtight container.

Remembering Hendrix's reminder on the phone, I was a little scared. Maybe some things werehappening quietly and I didn't know about it.

That night, I slept early, hearing noises in a daze. It sounded as if a chair or a table had fallen off. Igot up and went downstairs after putting on clothes.

When I reached downstairs, those noises had turned into a fight. Looking down, I saw that all thebodyguards were in the living room, surrounding a man.novelbin

Behind me came the sound of someone opening the door. It was Minnie who had heard the noiseand came out with Anne. I quickly stopped them and said, "It's alright. Madam Parker, bring Anneback to the room."

That kind of situation was not suitable for the elderly and young to be around.

After seeing Anne entering the room, I looked downstairs. The man, who was obviously dresseddifferently from the bodyguards, was forced down after he was worn out. Finally, five bodyguardsrushed up together and subdued him on the ground.

I had been tense the whole time. I was relieved that the man was caught, but I was still afraid thathe might get away, so I didn't dare go downstairs. I just stood upstairs and asked, "What's goingon?"

Hendrix was not home at that time, so I was the head of the family. I knew I needed to remain calmso that the bodyguards would have someone to receive orders from.

The leader of the bodyguards heard me and walked two steps in my direction. Then he looked upand reported, "Mrs. Roberts, this man just sneaked in and was discovered by us. He has beensubdued and will be locked in the basement later."

"Okay, well done." I nodded my head, expressing my approval. Hendrix's subordinates were alwaysmore experienced when it came to interrogation.

With my permission, the bodyguards escorted the man to the basement. But just after they took afew steps, the man suddenly shouted.

"Arianna!"

That voice was... Irvin?!

I called out, "Wait! Bring him here."

Since I had been standing upstairs, I could only see the heads of the group of people downstairs. After being taken down, the man was pressed onto the ground with his face facing the floor. I hadno chance to take a look at his face, so it was understandable that I didn't recognize him, but thevoice I heard couldn't have lied to me. I was too familiar with Irvin's voice.

The bodyguards wanted to ensure my safety, so they didn't dare to bring him too closely as theystopped on the spot. One of them forced the man's head up brutally, and he was forced to look inmy direction.

The moment our eyes met, I was shocked.

He had stubbles on his face and a pair of tired eyes. It was as if he aged drastically. He was indeedIrvin, but why had he changed so much?

"Let him go," I instructed. Irvin would hurt anyone but me.

The bodyguards glanced left and right. None of them dared loosen their grip, fearing that Hendrixwould put the blame on them if I was really hurt.

I spoke again, "Let go of him! He's my friend! If anything happens, I'll take full responsibility!"

The bodyguards let go of Irvin and retreated to the door.

I sighed and slowly walked downstairs, saying, "If you want to see me, why didn't you tell me? Whysneak in in the middle of the night?"

"You think I never tried?" Irvin said. He stared at me coldly and continued, "It's almost impossible tomeet you nowadays, Mrs. Roberts."
