Chapter 1590

"Wife?" I was completely shocked.

It had only been a few months since Ian had left, and yet, he was already married? It was the firsttime I had even met the woman whom he called his wife. Perhaps it was because of my self-esteem. I really couldn't accept the fact that a man who grew up together with me was marriedwithout even me knowing anything about it. I had an unpleasant expression on my face.

"Shocking, right?" As Ian looked at me, the smile on his face widened, but his eyes remained calm."It's understandable. I've known Silvia for almost a year now, and we received our marriagecertificate two months ago. Can't actually say we made our decision too hurriedly, can you?"

He said it in a joking tone, but my heart instantly sank.

I knew that Ian was still blaming me.

I remembered what he said about us growing distant from each other. We were childhood friends. However, I was too busy taking care of my personal matters that I had forgotten to ask about howhe was doing.

"Ian, you..." The words were at the tip of my tongue, but I didn't know how to continue.

I felt guilty about it. I turned away and didn't dare look at Ian, but saw Silvia kindly smiling towardsme instead. I forced a smile out of respect. Then I lowered her gaze and didn't dare say a word.

In Raiya's view, we were old friends reuniting with each other. She thought Ian was joking, so shewent along with him. "It doesn't matter actually even if your engagement was decided in a rush.Who can say for sure when it comes to love at first sight? My husband and I knew we were the onefor each other after meeting for not long, and we're now living happily together. It's not much of a bigdeal as long as you two are happy!"novelbin

Ian was taken aback by her honesty. A moment later, he regained his calmness and said, "I agree. It's just everyone's personal choice. No one is better off than anyone else."

I felt speechless as I could sense that there was some other meaning in Ian's words, but I reallycouldn't bring it up when Raiya and Silvia were right in front of us. I really wanted to ask Ian, "Wherehave you been? What happened to you?"

Even after mustering up my courage, I only managed to say, "You should come to my house fordinner some other day. Anne has been pestering me to have you accompany her all the time."

"We'll see how it goes." Ian directly rejected my invitation. "I just started my own clinic. All thepatients I treated before came back to me. I'm too busy. I think I won't have the time for now."

Ian refused to be close with me.

Every time this happened, I would think that Ian blamed me for not caring enough about him. Notonly that, he seemed to blame me for Monique's death.

Regardless, Monique was no longer here. I only had Ian left, a person who had accompanied mefor a long time. I couldn't bear to abandon our friendship just like that.

Just as I was about to speak to try my best to persuade him to stay, Silvia, who had been listeningquietly beside us, interrupted all of a sudden. "Don't worry. I'll remind him about it by that time."

Her voice was gentle. Her elegance resembled a princess living in a castle. Her consideratepersonality made her even more special as if the two of them were meant for each other. Ian didn'tinsist further. We came to an agreement just like that.

All my inexplicable self- esteem issues and pettiness instantly subsided.

Ian was right. Everything had happened a long time ago. What was important was that the womannext to him, Silvia, had a lovable character. She managed to control Ian's temper with ease. Atleast, with her, Ian wouldn't speak too harshly and totally fall apart with me at the moment.
