Chapter 1574

The next day.

When Freya arrived, I just happened to be downstairs. When Anne saw Freya coming in, she ran toher with her hands wide open, "Grandaunt!"

"Dear Anne, did you miss me?" Freya held Anne in her arms, and then she couldn't help butcomplain, "We're about the same age, but I'm a grandaunt. Why don't you let Anne address me asan aunt from now on? I feel old when she keeps calling me her grandaunt!"

Anne was a clever girl, so she immediately understood. She called out to Freya in a childish voice,"A... Aunt..."

Freya's smiling eyes narrowed into slits, and she immediately responded to Anne, "Ah! Anne is sosmart. Come, I'll reward you with a lollipop!"

As she spoke, she took out a lollipop from her Hermes bag and placed it in Anne's chubby hands.novelbin

Anne was so overjoyed that she clapped her hands and hopped around in Freya's arms. "Thankyou, Aunt Moore! I like lollipops!"

Freya saw how happy the child was and the smile on her face deepened. I said helplessly, "You arenot even this patient to Oliver. Is Anne your biological daughter instead of mine?"

"How is it the same?" Freya came over, holding Anne in her arms. "Anne is a girl, and a girl shouldbe doted on. Oliver is a boy, and he needs to be trained. Otherwise, he'll be a mama's boy when hegrows up, and I don't want that."

I shook my head and sighed. I wanted to retort, but I knew that I wouldn't win anyway.

Freya played around with the child for a while. When she saw that I was ready, she prepared tocarry Anne along with her. "Alright, let's set off now. We don't want to be late. Many doctorsnowadays are all on a high horse."

I thought of Amos' good temper, and I couldn't help refuting, "Not all doctors are like that. Amos isan excellent doctor."

After that, I grabbed Anne from her and shouted towards the kitchen, "Madam Parker, come over fora moment."

Soon, Minnie came out.

"Madam Parker, I'll be going out this morning. Just look after the child and leave the chores to theother servants."

"Got it, Madam."

Freya was puzzled, "Why won't you bring Anne along? I can watch over her."

As she spoke, Anne stood between us, looking up at us quietly with a pair of big and watery eyes. She was obedient and did not make a single fuss.

Anne's temper was similar to mine. Once we understood the situation, we would not create a sceneand would accept it obediently.

Before I coaxed Anne to sleep the previous day, I had already told her that I would be busy in themornings lately and that she would have to obey Minnie's words at home.

She didn't understand why I wanted to leave her behind. She thought that I was going to leave herto Valerie and Pedro like before. She cried for a while, and I told her a few fairy tales to distract her.

After that, I patiently coaxed and explained to her the reason why I was busy. Finally, after listening, she agreed to it and stopped pestering.

I sighed. Before leaving, I told Minnie to bring Anne out into the garden. Once we were out of thedoor, I answered Freya's question, "Anne had gone through bone marrow transplants last year andhad her kidneys replaced. She's recovering well now. I don't want her to enter the hospital again asI'm afraid she will get infected with other diseases. I can't bear to let her suffer again."

After thinking for a while, Freya understood and did not say anything else.
