Chapter 1561

His voice was still low, bringing a sense of calmness. Looking at his deep and dark eyes, I couldfinally feel at ease.

Since Hendrix had once managed to rescue me from Sebastian, he would definitely be able toprotect me again.

Even though that jerk was still on the loose, with Hendrix's protection, I could feel at ease.novelbin

Thinking of this, I felt better and gave him a faint smile. I could see the determined look in his eyeswhen our eyes met.

Emma was trying to tease us. She said, "You two are so sweet."

I could not help laughing upon hearing that. The same went for Hendrix. We read each other so wellnowadays that we seemed to be the same person.

Aaron shook his head in disgust. "I think only both of you would be so open with your affection inpublic during the new year. I think it's a pity for both of you to stay here. Just go home already!"Aaron said.

"Ouch!" All of a sudden, Aaron let out a shriek.

As soon as he finished his words, Emma had given him a smack on his arm. Aaron couldn't helpcomplaining, "Do you plan to kill me?"

Aaron used to have a bad reputation in the past. Even if there were a slight change in his facialexpression, anyone who did not know him that well would be scared of him and immediately defer. However, Emma seemed to be immune to him. She rolled her eyes at him. "Don't talk nonsense!"

After being embarrassed by Emma, Aaron did not seem to be in a good mood. He wanted to regainhis dignity. He then stood up suddenly and glared at Emma condescendingly. "If you keep beingdisrespectful to me, believe it or not, I'll kick you out now!" Aaron warned.

When they were still dating, they had reached a consensus. They promised not to interfere witheach other's personal lives after getting married. I thought they were a perfect couple at that time, but seeing that they were suddenly fighting, I was a little overwhelmed. I couldn't really distinguishwhether it was real or not.

Emma didn't even care about what he said. She snorted coldly and brought me upstairs. "It'spointless talking with him... Arianna, let's go. I had prepared a gift for Anne, and I forgot to bring itdownstairs. Come with me," Emma said.

I had no choice but to follow her as she kept tugging on me. Aaron was shouting loudly, asking us tostay. However, Emma did not even turn her head. I was impressed by her.

Emma brought me to their bedroom and asked me to wait on the sofa. Then, she disappeared andemerged again a few minutes later, holding a retro-styled wooden box in her hand.

"Open it and take a look," Emma said while passing the box to me.

I took it and opened it with a puzzled look. Inside the box lay a shiny necklace with a lucky pendant.

"Your brother said that Anne has been through a lot at such a young age. Hence, I bought Annethis. Wearing it may avoid bad luck coming to her. It is said that the children will be safe for the restof their lives if they keep this lucky pendant on all the time, before they turn nine years old," Emmasaid.

"Thank you, Emma," I said. Holding the lucky pendant in my hand, I suddenly felt a little moved.

When I first met Emma, I thought that she was too outspoken. I used to be astonished by what shesaid. I thought that after she married Aaron, she would still do her own thing. However, it seemedthat she had gotten used to being Aaron's wife.

In fact, I also saw that in the living room. Emma's love for Aaron was obvious, and she could nothide it. Aaron seemed to reciprocate, but he did not seem to realize it yet.

"As long as you like it," Emma said. She patted my shoulder in satisfaction without saying much.

On the way home, Anne had fallen asleep. Holding her, I couldn't help looking out of the window, deep in my own thoughts.
