Chapter 1508

I couldn't answer her, so I kept silent.

She glanced at the business card in her hand and laughed cynically. "I have thought about goingback, but I don't want to. When I left Ucrebury, I vowed to return a wealthy and successful woman. However, I am neither. Now, my life is full of scars and I don't deserve to go back. I can only die inthis city."

I studied her face and couldn't help feeling pity for her, "Why do you have to make things difficult foryourself? There are many options. Why do you have to put yourself into such a desperate situation?Perhaps your family is also waiting for you to go back."

She shook her head. "No one is waiting for me. I am the only one." She lowered her head, and hertears dripped onto the ground, "When I was two, my parents passed away. My uncle sent me to theorphanage. I stayed there for ten years before he decided to take me in because he was told thathis wife wasn't able to conceive. But then they gave birth to a son, so I was abandoned once again.I thought that as long as I could find someone who I could entrust my life to, I would be able to havea perfect family home. I could also give my child a wonderful home. But I'm still alone. What's evenmore funny is that I was brought to this situation by the person I chose. Isn't it ridiculous?"

I didn't know how to comfort her. Watching her cry, I could only hand her a tissue and replied,"Everyone has their own goal. It's not ridiculous."

She laughed self-mockingly. "This is fate. This is how my life turned out to be. I have accepted thatthis is how it's meant to be."

She clutched her chest and appeared to be in pain. I couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"

She took a deep breath and instructed me, "Help me get the painkillers from the drawer."

I got up and went to the drawer. Inside it, there was a pile of medicine. I found the painkillers andhanded the pills to her. Then, I poured her a glass of water.

She looked better after taking the medicine. She glanced at me and said, "Thank you."

I shook my head and examined her place. It was so small that we could almost touch each otherwhen I turned around. I asked her, "Did you live here before too?"

Although Hendrix and his brothers had different personalities, they were all very generous to theirwomen. Andrea had been with them for many years, and the three brothers had given her a lot ofmoney.

Chloe and Josiah were once an item. As long as she wasn't a big spender, she shouldn't be in thissituation right now.

She shook her head and replied, "Josiah has a house for me to stay, but I need money these days,so I rented the house to someone else and moved here. It's good as I can save money and thisplace is also close to the city center."

I pursed my lips. I knew about the expenses of chemotherapy. I believed that currently, she hadalready spent almost all of her money, so the only option left was to prostitute herself.

That night, the only one who slept soundly was Shirley. Chloe did not sleep, and neither did I. Thenext morning, Chloe fell asleep leaning against the bed.novelbin

I set down my bank card next to her and left with Shirley, who was still in a daze.
