There was no difference. Abby's parents and Sebastian were driven mad by their greed for moneyand although my motives were different, I was willing to go lengths to achieve what I wanted as well.
I pursed my lips and tried to persuade him, "I've adopted Ab by, I'm going to raise her as my ownchild. I'm going to give her a bright future. She and Anne are going to have the support of both theRoberts and Moore families. Her life is definitely going to be better than staying in that village."
At first, I thought Hendrix was going to argue with me but he just answered indifferently, "Sure, youhave a well-thought-out plan."
I was taken aback for a moment. But after a while, he spoke again, "But have you asked the childwhat she really wants?"novelbin
I frowned and suddenly became a little upset, "Hendrix, I know that Anne is not your biological child.I know how noble you are and I know that I shouldn't hurt an innocent child. However, I'm terriblysorry to break it to you but, since I was young, I have been a very selfish person. I raised Annesince she was an infant. I can't bear to see her suffer. Therefore, I have no other choice."

Perhaps it was due to me being pregnant, but that night, I felt particularly sleepy. I was woken up bythe commotion in the yard.
When I pulled open the curtains, I saw Abby in her pajamas in the yard. Her hair was ruffled,probably from a night's sleep. However, to my surprise, Naomi was standing outside the gates.
Seeing her, I was a little confused. Shouldn't she be at Jarold City looking for Sebastian? Why wasshe here? I greeted Naomi from my window, got dressed and went downstairs.
The gate used a fingerprint scanner and thus Naomi had no way to get in. After the door wasunlocked, she entered, carrying bags of food and fruits.
When she saw me, she demanded, "Why is your phone always on silent mode? I've been callingyou for the entire morning, what have you been up to? Were you very exhausted? It's nearly teno'clock."
I was stupefied and looked at the clock on my phone. It was indeed half past ten. I could not helpasking, "Have you been waiting here for a long time?"
She nodded, "I've been waiting for quite some time now. If I didn't call Hendrix, I might've thoughtthat you moved somewhere else and I had the wrong house. Who is this child?"
As we walked into the house, she asked about Ab by. I reached out to take the things from herhands and said, "It's my adopted child, Abby. Shouldn't you be at Jarold City? Why are you here?"
"It's all Sebastian's fault!" She uttered out, "I finally found him in Jarold City but he asked me tocome to Asherton. It's obvious that he's toying with me!"
I watched as she opened a box of durians. The strong scent wafted out and she complained, "Ireally don't understand how you can like something as smelly as durian. The scent is so
strong."
I was a little puzzled, "How did you know that I liked durians?"
