Chapter 1418

The orphanage?

Sebastian did not only find children from remote mountain villages, but also from orphanages?

He was really good at exploiting desperate people and making a fortune from this.

"Do you know which orphanage it is?" This might be a lead. Orphanages always kept records. Hemust have adopted her from somewhere, so there were definitely records of it.

After giving it some thought, she shook her head slightly and said, "Winnie didn't tell me. When shecame to my house, she only said that she was from an orphanage, but I'm not certain which one itwas."

"Does your dad know?" Wendy's father should have come in contact with Sebastian in person. If hecould testify against Sebastian, then it would aid us significantly.

Wendy shook her head, "I don't know."

Looking at her, I fell silent for a moment and uttered, "Wendy, you hate Sebastian, don't you?"

She was taken aback and stared blankly at me. She looked a little confused.

I added, "The bad guy should be brought to justice. If we don't do that, many more children might beexploited and harmed by him. I believe that you want him to be behind bars, don't you?"

After hearing my words, she hesitated for a moment. Then, she looked at me and finally asked,"What... what can I do?"

I clearly knew that there were things that shouldn't be said. But if I didn't, the bad guys wouldn't bepunished for their sins. I stared back at her and said, "Can you bring me to meet your dad? He's the

best candidate to testify against him."novelbin

Her face turned pale in an instant and she was agitated, "No! If my dad confesses to the police, then he would never be freed from prison. I can't let that happen!"

Looking at her distressed face, I pursed my lips, "I can understand how you feel, but your father hadmade a mistake. We have to be responsible for our actions. If he doesn't testify, then Sebastian willcontinue to hurt many more children. Are you willing to see another Winnie get hurt?"

"Leave, I don't want to hear any more from you. Arianna, you're too selfish. You only think aboutyourself. That person is my father. How can I let him spend the rest of his life in prison? Leave, I willnever agree to this."

She was so emotional that she pushed me out of the ward and locked me out. She did not give mea chance to speak at all.

I clearly understood how she felt. She was right. That person was her father and I was acting toorash, asking her father to confess to a crime like this. There was no way anyone would be willing todo that to their own father.

I went over to Anne's ward and saw that she was nowhere to be found. I was taken aback andanxiously tugged on Valerie's shirt. I asked, "Mom, where's Anne? Did her illness worsen again?"

Valerie raised her hand and motioned for me to calm down. She said, "Don't worry. She's fine. It'sjust that she needs to be isolated for now. She was brought to the sterile room by the doctor. Wecan visit her there."

I breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing that Abby was fast asleep on the bed, I felt a little guilty. Since theday she was brought here, she was in constant fear. I didn't have the time to look after her and thusI neglected her.

"Have you found this kid's identification documents? She can't operate without them. We havefinally found a suitable candidate for Anne's surgery but now we are being held back by thisregistration issue." Valerie whispered in my ear and sighed, "This child is small for her age. Youdidn't mention it, but I'm a little worried if she will survive the operation. We have to take good careof her, otherwise I'm worried that she will have some other health complications in the future."
