Chapter 1403

Seeing his serious demeanor, I instantly felt more guilty. I lowered my head and intertwined myhands together, feeling a little at loss. I didn't intend to hide anything about Sebastian from Hendrix,it was just that I knew he was too wary of Sebastian. If I told him, he would definitely be furious.

Thinking of this, I became more and more determined not to tell Hendrix about the business cardthat Sebastian gave me. I looked at him and said, "Hendrix, it's really my father. It's also because ofthis matter that I called you to stop him at that time. I really didn't want him to get involved in anytrouble because of me. So, I came to Asherton to ask him for more information. You also knew itwhen I decided to come without telling you. You even got angry at me for this! Have you forgotten?"

He suddenly sneered, and his cold stare penetrating through my skin, "You've gone to so muchtrouble just to make up an elaborate lie. How can I not believe you?"

After saying that, he went straight into the bathroom, and then the sound of flowing water came. Hewas really angry, or rather, he was

furious.novelbin

I was not sure if he knew about Sebastian's involvement, so I was feeling a little uneasy. I originallyplanned to wait for him to come out. If he was really angry, I would come clean with him. However, Ididn't expect that after a day and a night of traveling, I would fall asleep after sitting on the bedalmost immediately.

When I woke up the next day, I couldn't find him. Pedro had sent me a message informing me thatthey were about to board the plane to Asherton. After washing up, I went to Abby’s bedroom andsaw that she was already up. She was sitting on her bed obediently, as if she had been waiting forme.

The more sensible she behaved, the more I felt guilty. Seeing her worn and thin clothes, I took herto wash up, and then drove her to the mall. It would take at least four hours to get from Jarold Cityto Asherton. So, I still had time to buy Abby some new clothes before Pedro and Valerie arrived.

She seemed a little excited, probably because this was her first time visiting a shopping mall. However, she held my hand timidly, refusing to let go. I bought a few sets of clothes for her. She putthem on and looked at me bashfully, "Madam Reid, are you going to deduct the money for theseclothes from the payment you gave my parents? If so, I don't need so many clothes, I want myparents to keep more of the money."

I was a little upset when I heard these words from her. She was still thinking of her parents at sucha moment. I couldn't help but smile bitterly and said, "Don't worry, these clothes are my gifts to you.I'm not deducting the money from your parents. You can just wear them without worrying aboutanything."

She nodded and asked while holding my hand, "Then, when can I save your daughter?"

I was stunned for a moment. I had forgotten that children also have their own thoughts. Her parentshad talked about all of these openly in front of her. She knew better than me her purpose of comingwith me.

Holding her, I shook my head and said, "No rush, I would like to take you around the city for a fewmore days."

She nodded, her eyes bright.

I asked reluctantly, "Abby, if I ask you not to go back to your village in the future, and live with meinstead, would you be willing?"

Upon hearing this question, she paused for a moment and mulled over this idea before asking,"Madam Reid, will you give my parents more money if I live with you?"

I nodded and replied, “Yes, I will!"

She lowered her head slightly and made a very serious decision. "Yes, Madam Reid. As long as youcan give Mommy and Daddy more money, then I'm willing to live with you."
