Chapter 1383

Petrified, the two girls froze for a moment before walking out of the washroom with me, ignoring theknocking sounds coming from the cubicle.

After they walked out of the washroom, they high-fived each other excitedly. Then, they laughedtheir heads off. When they realized that I was still standing there, they composed themselves andkept a straight face. "Hi Mrs. Roberts."

I looked at them and asked with a smile, "Who’s in the cubicle?"

"It's... Miss Zanes!" they said while looking at me. They looked embarrassed and fearful at the sametime. "Mrs. Roberts, are you going to..."

"Nah, I won’t," I said as I cracked a smile. "No worries. I won’t let the cat out of the bag. But please, don't do that again. It's not safe."

The girls smiled and nodded.

I had been at the washroom for quite a long time now, so I wanted to head back to Hendrix's officebefore he realized I had been gone for too long. I did not say anything further. Just when I turnedaround and was about to walk away, they stopped me and asked, "Mrs. Roberts, why didn't you askwhy we played a trick on Miss Zanes?"

I thought for a moment and replied, "Well, I guess it's none of my business. Off you go to work now."

The two girls shared a glance and nodded. Then, they left.

Not long after that, I saw the cleaner going into the bathroom. I did not say anything. Instead, Iheaded straight towards Hendrix's office.

While I was making my way to Hendrix's office, I heard hurried footsteps coming from behind me. Iturned around. It was Estella. Her clothes were drenched, and her delicate makeup had beenwashed away. Her hair was dripping wet, and she looked flustered.

As I saw her trotting over, I stopped and feigned surprise. "Miss Zanes, what happened?" I asked.

Even though she was surprised to see me, she forced a smile and replied, "I came across somepsychos in the washroom. They played a trick on me."

I nodded and said, "Thank goodness it's about time to get off work. Dry yourself off. The weatherhas been cold lately and you may fall sick."

She lowered her head and murmured in acknowledgment. Then, she left.

I was a little bewildered as I watched her retreating. After all, she did not strike me as someone whowould offend co- workers in the office, for she was a tactful and considerate lady. It was because ofthis that I was astounded to see her co-workers playing a trick on her.

Hendrix was in a teleconference call when I reached his office. I did not barge into his room.Instead, I sat on the sofa and waited for him. Half an hour later, he finished his work.

It was well past working hours. While he was tidying up the documents, he looked at me and asked,"What would you like to have for dinner?"

"Let's head over to the hospital," I said. "My parents have been worrying about Anne. Let's see if wecan find a way to locate a suitable bone marrow for the transplant surgery. Anne can't bear to sufferany longer."

He nodded. He then took his keys before grabbing hold of me and leading me out of the office.

In the elevator, he suddenly bit my lips. "Don't ever meet Sebastian again without my permission,"he said. "Otherwise, you will be in trouble."

I was speechless. Why hadn't he gotten over that issue yet? It had already been a while since ithappened.novelbin

At the hospital.

It was dark by the time we arrived at the hospital. Fortunately, I had called up Valerie and informedher beforehand that I would be coming over to the hospital. She instructed the nanny to cook dinnerfor us and had the food sent to the hospital. We then had our meal there.
